The relay engages on power on (yellow light) and starts the timer of about 1/3 of a second (length of flasher light) and shuts off with power off and restarts for next flash. If the power stays on longer than the timer (DRL) the relay disengages after the timer ends and switches to white light...

What are you using for switchback functionality?
No flashers in the system. BCM controls the lights. Common ground for all the lights.
Really sounds like the bulb/circuit you are using for the DRL -switchback is bad.
Sensor on the top of the dash is ambient light sensor for dash intensity.
Also the is another screw/bolt holding the dashpad on under the left hand dash button stack panel.
I just got a complete set for my 07v. Same Cashmere color as yours. Richmond upholstery.
They didn’t list the cashmere on their website but if you email them, they will make them for you. Total was about $1737 for full set.

I had this issue after changing the battery. Disconnected the battery cables and held both cable ends together for a few minutes. Reconnected to battery and trunk worked again. “Your mileage my very”😁
The LEDs in the switches burn out. I’ve changed mine couple of times. You have to replace the entire switch modules. They use to sell for about 19$ new but can be very difficult to fine anymore.
Enjoy it.
