Posted on the Hagerty website, this entirely entertaining video should spark a discussion here. Not certain where to start, so I provide you with the link with the intent of hearing some knowledgeable responses. (I'm one of the old geezers who has owned an XLR and never put my foot to the...
My 2007 has been PERFECT--- I have it checked over carefully each year, and in my experience, these are durable, well engineered cars. As with any mechanism that is well used and, at times, abused, components will wear out, nothing is perfect or forever
I've been told that this is not a complicated issue to solve. My local garage told me that it can be fixed without removing the wheels... I'm bringing the car in next week. Perhaps someone here will provide a better answer, but in the meantime, I believe it's an easily "fixable" issue. James
Sophia, thanks a bunch for posting GOOD news on major repairs. While we all want to help those who are challenged by failures, it's ALWAYS good to know that "happy endings" are still possible, James
What a wonderful idea---- take those gas tanks out and put in batteries... (except my wife and I just completed an 840 mile one day trip in our wonderfully smooth running and efficient XLR that got 26 mpg) James
Yes, this key fob programming receptical is covered in your owner's book. It is, as stated above, intended to program an XLR key fob that is "new" to your car--- i.e. a replacement key, so that you can purchase a "non programmed" key, and have your car do the programming. Hope this helps. James
THank you Richard for the explanation. It makes sense that the computer would "miss read" the open gas cap message, and the fact that you smelled gas also is a likely scenario, but all this left me wondering just why, when you filled up, no gas apparently showed on the ground. You did...
This is important information Richard, and thank you for posting it. As is the case with some of these challenges, having an independent knowledgeable repair shop eases the pain with some of these challenges. If you have the time to do so, could you explain how this part of the system failed...
Ron, I have a 2007, Infared with wire grille with a little over 33,000 miles... ALL fluids changed, new serpentine belt, new rear tierod ends, new tires- all done in the last 2,000 miles--- I'm 75 and simply not driving the car. It's stored in heated garage Oct-May. If you have interest...
You're very generous! I've purchased Vogues for my "vntage" Cadillac convertibles, and I am very pleasantly surprised by Vogue's ability to absorb annoying bumps in the road. I don't have them on my XLR, but will be very interested in hearing from others as well. I do love the tire...
You might "try" one possible solution. Disconnect your battery over night, Then and reconnect and try to open the trunk again. However, it's likely you'll need to go to the dealer, as there is computer circuitry that will almost certainly provide you with a diagnosis through the service...
An interesting "side note." I just purchased a used Ford suv in which the last owner replaced halogen with LED bulbs--- He left me with the packaging and instructions for the new LED bulbs. Incredulous as it seems, the LED replacements have built in "mini cooling electric fans" as part of...
Thanks for your response. Following your first narrative, I looked for on-line comparisons of various company policies, and the company you selected received high marks for coverage. As you know, most "insurers" work hard at NOT providing coverage when car components fail, and so, I never...
I've been scammed this way with old Cadillac parts--- "Is tested and working before we send it to you." Quite often, you pay for what you get. With some electrical parts, exposure to cycling on and off, extreme temperature swings, and age usually correspond to "service life," so that your...
