    Wierd HVAC(?) Noise

Thanks Tim, Did those searches again to be sure and didn't find anything like my noise. As I mentioned previously I think (could be wrong) the rolling film actuators are OK. I can hear them making precise moves when I press the air path button. The noise I hear, and this is on the recording...

    Wierd HVAC(?) Noise

Received one PM from someone who heard a similar noise but no root cause found. Anyone else have a chance to listen to the audio yet?

    Wierd HVAC(?) Noise

Had to turn the audio recording into a YouTube video. The noise goes away about one second after I turn the heater off each time. It does not start until a few seconds after I turn it back on, and the noise comes back sounding a little different each time but you can hear it is the same source.

    Wierd HVAC(?) Noise

This is getting maddening. It was not the aspirator fan. But it still sounds very much like a spinning element with a bad bearing. What else is turning in the HVAC system? Is there some sort of spinning valve/propeller in the coolant stream of the heater core? In manipulating the air flow...

    Wierd HVAC(?) Noise

Update - Working the Google angle per your suggestion longTS I found a link to an STS forum and then back to a different XLR forum (didn't know there was another one) but it had a posting from CCClark who is a big contributor here too. Both mentioned the temperature sensor aspirator fan - a...

    Wierd HVAC(?) Noise

Good idea - I did not try the phone record. It is probably in between your two descriptions - but it is intermittent and not always loud. It doesn't sound like something is going to break immediately, more like a bearing going - you know it will only get worse and you'll be fixing it in...

    Wierd HVAC(?) Noise

Good tip on the google search, I'll try that as I did a number of different attempts at words and phrases within the site but didn't find anything related. However, you may be referring to a more subtle noise I think I have heard also. The noise I am chasing is definitely new and seems too...

    Wierd HVAC(?) Noise

You guys out there are great at sharing your immensely helpful diagnosis and opinions - I have a weird one for you. I have a 2006 V but posting to the larger audience here. There is a noise inside the car coming from approx the center stack. It sounds exactly like a bad blower bearing -...

    Help! Anyone recognize this part?

Rexter, Good call, I checked this too but the hood weatherstripping is larger in cross dimensions and different cross section. This would have been the most likely given where I found it, thankfully that is all intact. Appreciate the help.

    Help! Anyone recognize this part?

Bill, Genius guess - I believe you are right. It is not from my current wipers, but it is the exact length and cross section, and the upper spine is ragged, just where it would have separated from the rest of the blade. It means unbelievably it's been floating around my engine bay for over 4...

    Help! Anyone recognize this part?

I was working under the hood, had the intake air filter assembly off, and noticed this small strip of rubber laying on the passenger side of the engine. It is about 20" long, has a "T" cross section, about 1/8" across the top and 3/16" vertical. Going to try and attach photos here. I have a...

Run Flats (AGAIN - sorry) for the V

Thanks Nerkpowers - appreciate that full consumer reports article.

Run Flats (AGAIN - sorry) for the V

Hey Nerkpowers thanks for the compressor kit link, need to get that on order. What exactly is the latex sealant - are you saying that is approved "slime" to plug a leak? Everyone has mentioned how much trouble sealant causes the TPSs and tire repair in general - but this stuff is OK? That's...

    Original V Tires available

Yeah fair enough nerkpowers, it is why I said is anyone fanatical enough about originality. I do believe tires age, dry rot, and fail, however I think the six year "recommendation" is self serving tire manufacture's BS. Tire aging is indeed a complex process, much accelerated by UV, so a...
