    Key stash?

That sounds like a lot of work. I also have a key in a box zip-tied to the frame so I can open the trunk. With the trunk open, it's easy to open the (drivers) door and then pop open the hood to get access to the battery. EVERYONE should try the "emergency opening procedure" - it eliminates...

    door & window gone wild

Have you tried replacing the door opening contact pad (the rubber switch you touch when you want to open the door)? You can always swap the passenger side and see if the issue goes away. It can cause odd issues like the one(s) you describe.

    Mystery Wheels

Take a look at my avatar for my wheel pics. They are OEM wheels and were offered at Cadillac dealers. They are very inexpensive to purchase nowadays..... (see...

    XLR Service Bulletin Details

I'm not 100% sure.... The bottom line is that all of the NorthStar family share many common parts for whatever version they are in. (the coil bank is shared by other N*'s) The XLR has a slightly unique engine, since it's the only version of the N* that is mounted the "normal" way (not...

Propane works well for that too, if you have a tank handy.

    XLR Service Bulletin Details

A new battery is great. I ALWAYS keep mine on a Battery Tender when I'm at home to insure the charge stays as good as possible. Knock on wood, I've had no strange error messages since I've started doing that. If you have a rough idle, you can take the cover off of the engine and, one by one...

    XLR Service Bulletin Details

An intermittent rough idle might indicate that one (or more) of your ignition coils is failing. They can operate sporadically, and they don't last forever. They also don't necessarily set a DTC unless they are inpoerable for a longer period of time (the eventual DTC would be a misfire on...

If you enjoyed that, go to Las Vegas and see "Absinthe" at Cesar's. Fairly similar, and it's a great show!

    Help! 2004 XLR Ignition switch

It does indeed sound like the fob battery (batteries) are to blame. I've had some issues withreplacement batteries. Be sure that they are fresh when you get them!

Noise when shifting gears . . . .Low Speed

Does it change as teh transmission warms up? Have you checked the transmission fluid level? I would place the blame on the tranny if it only makes the noise at that one shift point, but I really haven't heard of anyone having transmission issues....

We are ALL very happy that you're here!!! You have made a great difference in all of our lives, whether you know it or not. You (and Kathy) are the catalyst that has brought us together many, many times to create great friendships and wonderful memories. Again, thank you for all you...

    Electrical Gremlins Appears dead

I don't think THEY should be poking around with a Tech II with that attitude and if they think a battery tender fried the electronics! :(

    Control Module

That's why I keep a spare copy of the key (which opens the trunk so you can open the door) tied in a super secret (???) location on the body of my car. One can also keep a spare fob (minus the battery) somewhere as well. The battery-less fob will operate the car if inserted in the glove box slot.

    Climate Control problems...HELP!

I'd still take the console apart and check the connections at the end of the HVAC unit. Keep it out, keep it plugged in and try it. If it works intermittently (when you hit it a little) you know it needs to be replaced. Conversely, you'll know if the wiring is bad if is okay when you hit it...

    Climate Control problems...HELP!

The outside temperature display is on the navigation screen - how is it not displaying (is the little blue area blank, is the little blue area nonexistant, or is the whole screen not on/black)? THe HVAC unit is fairly easy to get to, though you do have to remove the shifter and center console...

    Insurance

I was mulling around insurance from the National Corvette Museum (http://www.ncminsurance.com/) Yep, they sell insurance, and know how folks enjoy driving their cars around. Their quote was about 1/2 of what I'm paying through Allstate, and they have a variety of options so you won't get...
