Important! 2004 - 2009 Cadillac XLR: Service Bulletin: Special Coverage Adjustment – Airbag Light On

I agree w/ Cubby that this soldering strategy is a helluva "kludge" of a fix. Also, my dealer says that there will be a change to this bulletin to extend the 10-year limit. This one is DOA for a lot of XLRs, including mine. Tim

    Expensive hydraulic parts -no more!

This is starting to have the earmarks of a happy ending. :party I'm blown away that a guy in Finland could come up w/ what seems to be a great shop in Oregon. Sometimes, I guess the Internet isn't just all about terrorists and porn. That shop is likely to earn a lot more XLR business, IMO...

Should I keep the original engine?

Actually, Mike, it's used all the time. I usually wait until the streets are clear, but not always. It actually does surprisingly well in the snow & ice. Light touch required! I learned to drive in northern Minnesota, and the roads stayed snow-packed there most all winter. Nowadays, they...

Should I keep the original engine?

I'll go out on a limb here, Mike, and guess that it likely was the "sparkles". Sorry for that. Nothin' going on here X4 the boring Pro Bowl, and watching the snow start to accumulate. ;)

    Hello from The Desert

Welcome to the forum, Cadzilla. Hey, Patrick!!! Looks like you have company. :blinzel: I'll likely be bringing my "Daphne" back to the desert in March, when we return from Colorado. Maybe we can all link up for coffee. Lots of XLRs here in the desert. Tim

    Headers & Cats installed

Just for my edification, what is it that precludes their fitting on the 2004-2006 base models? :dunno: Tim

    Help! Low Oil Level display

Memories... I remember WAY back when my folks borrowed my Grandma's pretty new '51 Pontiac for our vacation "out west" from Minnesota to Montana. My Grandma NEVER drove over 45mph, even on the highways. [One time, I rode with her from Grand Rapids to Coleraine on the 2-lane Hwy 169. Did I...

    Definitive Battery Recommendations

Rex, we have had several threads on this subject, and I sympathize with you on the difficulty of picking the "right" battery. I have the same model/year XLR as you, and the Optima Yellow Top D35 works splendidly. It's the "deep cycle" version of the Red Top, and I have had NO issues with it...

    Cam position sensor location

I'm glad to hear that there is a way to "learn" this CKP info. I'm woefully ignorant of the Tech 2 capabilities, but it did seem likely that such a procedure existed. I'm thankful (time-of-year comment) that my "Daphne" is running like a watch [knocking wood as I type]. I do hope it helps...

    Cam position sensor location

Good news on fixing the cam position code. I'm not familiar with the Tech-II, so I don't know if it has a "learn" facility, when it comes to the crank position. It seems that there has to be some way to do that. Sure would explain the rough running, if the timing's hit or miss. :chuckle...

    Cam position sensor location

I believe you'll find that you have 4 of them -- two on each head. They're roughly circular, and about 2.5-3" in diameter, on the top/front of each head. They have small wires going in/out of them. Check to make sure the wires are secure, and not leaking oil. It's a common location for weepy...

That Corvette driver you followed probably had to go to the dealer to replace his brakes! :chuckle Tim

    Help! Horn honks three times

Found It! Hi, Sandy. TSB = Technical Service Bulletin. Sorry if that isn't the correct terminology here, but they're what we called them in our dealership. I found my printout. This issue was discussed here. Hope this helps. Tim

    Help! Horn honks three times

Sandy, I thought they fixed this issue in the '09s, but maybe not. With my '06, if you walk next to the left front fender after you shut the door, mine will also beep 3 times. There is a TSB to fix this. :thumbsup It involves a visit to your nearest Tech2 person, to download software (!)...

Sorry, Bob. The only vanity plate I have is the original black/yellow California plate the original owner got for my C2 back in '64. I run it with a Collector plate, but it's just a number. Good luck. Tim

For those of you with the Volant cold air intake...

Sandy, the next time you're in FL, I suggest you make a loop over to TX and back. Take along a notebook; you'll hear enough of this kind of sayings to fill it. I worked with a Texan who had a knack for coming up with these, and I never (!) once heard him repeat himself. I'd laugh so hard my...

    06 In Georgia

Thanks to "AirMike", I also have the "V" rims on my base '06. Those wheels, along with the 255/40/ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3 tires on all 4 and the "V" anti-sway bar, completely changed the handling for the better (IMO). I did the change in preparation for the Rocket Rally thru Montana's...

2008 Alpine White XLR for sale

"Snow Bird" Well, for those of you with a preference for white, I have seen what may fill the bill for you. Red Noland Cadillac has an '08 Arctic White base XLR, with chrome rims and (I believe) shale interior, for sale. IT IS CHERRY! I couldn't find a scratch or flaw on it. I did test...
