Wow! I just don't know about these folks w/ a 20 degree comfort zone. 60's are too cold; 90's are too hot. Kind of a Goldilocks attitude. If you stopped running top-down when it gets in the 90's here in the desert, you'd never want a convertible. Seems to me that's why they put...
Love your WindRestrictor, Fred. When I was a motorsports dealer, all we ever used was Plexus and microfiber. Never had an issue. Now, it's gotten pretty pricey, but (IMHO) it's still the best. No residue; no static, and it works well removing bug remnants.

First, welcome to the site. There are other folks on this forum who have undertaken the challenges you're facing, so be sure to solicit their experience.
Second, the '04-'05 headlights had an issue with the DRL lenses "crazing" from heat. There are several posts on that on this site...
Just a couple of thoughts: 1) your '04 might benefit from your routinely running w/ the headlights on anyway (see DRL problems); 2) My light platinum is almost the same color as old, faded asphalt. Doesn't sound very good, but my car is camouflaged on an old road. I run with my headlights on...
OK, so if I have all of this sorted out, it should be fair to say that the C6 was built on the XLR frame, since our cars came first. :chuckle

(Just stirring the pot a little, yano...) :(
Thanks, Amy. That's a BIG help. I really hate the plastic parts. I've seen teflon timing gears break on otherwise pristine motorcycles. As an engineer, it makes me ill.
Sideline Alert! I once was on a flight seated next to a Detroit auto engineer. His ENTIRE job was to save...
Well, Robert, you sure have a great day for it! Maybe I'll dust off the ol' Busa and tour Cañon City. Be our last chance to get out before we head back to California (both w/ my XLR [Daphne] and my wife's SRX).

Nice work there, Al. :worship:
I've never seen the part, but was wondering if the old cable showed any signs of deterioration. Is it the enclosed type, like a motorcycle throttle/clutch cable? If so, did it still move freely; i.e., did the internal cable lubrication still work...
Model Year Differences
First, let me also welcome you to the forum. :blinzel: You'll likely enjoy the banter going on here, not to mention the valuable advice.
As an owner of an '06, let me say that I view myself as fortunate (dumb luck, actually) for getting that model. The '06 and later...
Well, Dan, it all kinda depends on what class you graduated from. If was Kindergarten, you're still a "whipper snapper"; but, if it was med school, you're kinda gettin' up there, yano what I mean...

Old Home Week
Oh, Hi, Skip.
Not many folks give Acoma much credit for being "beautiful", but it's been lived in a long (!) time. The Acoma people are very proud of their heritage. I know; for 5 years, I lived on the Laguna Indian Reservation, which is adjacent to the Acoma...
Quality Lapse
My '06 Light Platinum has the same wood color, AND the same kind of flaw on the driver's door handle. I had assumed that an applied fake wood pattern had just scratched off, although the finish is completely smooth. Thanks to y'all, I now know it was a lousy fix to a flaw in the...
Hey, Hawkeye, you might want to check with the residents of Acoma ("AH ko ma"), New Mexico. Think they have you beaten by at least a few hundred (maybe well over a thousand) years.

Sandy, you might want to look into having your Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor cleaned/replaced. There is a discussion of this on this site. If the K&N filter has a little too much oil on it, it evidently can cause the MAF to become "oiled" and misread, which causes the O2 sensor(s) to throw codes...
Something's amiss, methinks. I've had good tire wear performance on my '06. When I replaced my 18" wheels, my tires still had like-new tread on them after 12K+ miles, even tho' the car needed a 4-wheel alignment (according to my dealer, Red Noland in COS). All I'd done was to rotate them...
I'm running those exact tires on all 4 corners of mine: same brand/model/size. Excellent (!) handling, and no observed interference. I had all 4 wheels aligned, and they checked for interference when they installed them (Costco, w/ 31 psi nitrogen all around).
At the risk of being redundant...
