    Weather strip...again

My car has 23K miles, garage kept. No other signs of deterioration anywhere, but most of the weatherstripping looks like it was coated with some glossy substance that has partly worn off. The paint is immaculate, like new, as is every other aspect of the car.

    Weather strip...again

Howdy all, I did a search on weatherstrip issues and found some interesting ideas on products to improve the appearance of this problem area on our cars. Mine looks to have been coated with something that has failed in many places. I've tried Back to Black, Krytox and other products, but none...

    Help! Retractable License Plate Kit

My buddy who does a lot of work on my cars for me talked me into the electric version. I'll have it in a few days and will install and report on how well it works. Its on sale at the moment...I paid only around $125 for the electric one. Not sure how long the sale is on...

    Help! Retractable License Plate Kit

Corvette Show & Go Front License Plate Frame Holder - Non-Motorized : 2006-2013 C6 Z06 & Grand Sport There's an electrically powered unit available too...on sale at the moment...for about twice the price. Not sure why I would need it to be electric, so I'll just get the manual.

Does anyone have a front hide-a-plate on their XLR?

I'm thinking of using this: Corvette Show & Go Front License Plate Frame Holder - Non-Motorized : 2006-2013 C6 Z06 & Grand Sport

    Show Us Your XLR

This will be interesting for sure. I've been following price levels on these cars for a couple of years. Its seems from my view that the V price floors are close, or that the floor may have been reached for low mileage cars in excellent condition. Maybe this is wishful thinking as I just...

Looking for a low-mileage (less than 25K) V. Prefer Raven

Finally found the right car. I paid more than I wanted to ($36,500 including dealer fee and title - I still have to pay tax here in texas and registration), but its an '08 Black Raven/Black XLRV with two owners with 22K miles. I can only find one minor door ding...no paintwork at all, and the...

    V Exhaust

Thanks for your clarification. I had an '09 Corvette with the dual exhaust mode feature, and really liked it. I never got around to buying a "mild to wild" gizmo, but it was on my "to do" list before I decided to sell the Corvette and buy an XLRV. I finally found the right car and picked it up...

    V Exhaust

Can somebody tell me if the V exhaust works the same way as Corvette's equipped with the "Dual-Mode" option? I bought an '09 Corvette thinking it would satisfy the V itch, but it didn't really work. Enjoyed the car, but passed it on and bought a V, which I pick up Friday. Just wondering how...

    Driver Seat Control Panel Question

The Cadillac dealer fixed the problem... Can't figure out how to delete a message...grrrr... Anyway, finally got a V, an '08, Black Raven/Black. Details and Pics in a few days when I pick it up...

Looking for a low-mileage (less than 25K) V. Prefer Raven

Apparently you did not read my post: "Will pay in line with KBB Private Party Price." People can ask whatever they want. KBB and Edmunds and other buying guides are based on real sales, not aspirational prices.

Looking for a low-mileage (less than 25K) V. Prefer Raven

Looking for a clean, low mileage V with good maintenance/repair track record. Will consider any year. Will pay in line with KPP Private Party Price. Only interested in a car with perfect cosmetics and record, No Paintwork. Thanks, Joe

Been lurking for a while, thinking about taking the plunge

These Cadillac's (and an old Mercedes) are in my garage now...not particularly valuable, but all very low mileage examples (the Lucerne Aqua Firemist/White 1970 Eldorado just turned 24K miles). Very different from the XLRV, of course, but the I think you can see the inspiration for its "Art and...

Been lurking for a while, thinking about taking the plunge

Thanks very much for all the perspectives. I admit...I'm probably more of a "Flavor of the Month" type...I suppose with less commitment to the car (yet) than many here. Maybe a bit of an automotive dilettante, definitely not a dealer, just a retired guy with a bucket list I'm making my way...

Been lurking for a while, thinking about taking the plunge

I am in no way a dealer, unless you consider a car lover who occasionally breaks even, but mostly considers the usual loss the cost of the hobby a dealer. My cars are solely for pleasure.

Been lurking for a while, thinking about taking the plunge

Thanks for the replies. Just curious...how exactly does one go about buying a V...? I buy and sell several special interest/classic cars every year, and always have three or four to play with at any given time. I always use buying guides to negotiate a deal, and to determine if I can get out of...

Been lurking for a while, thinking about taking the plunge

I told the seller that I couldn't pay thousands more than both KBB and Edmunds say a perfect (only 3% of cars) Private Party price. Of course, he said he didn't need to sell, and that I wouldn't find another low-mileage one as nice. This is verbatim what a guy in Florida, whose car is even more...

Been lurking for a while, thinking about taking the plunge

Thanks for the input...I forgot to put the price...The Craigslist ad had a $34,500. Price...car's been listed for several weeks with no reduction. The owner said he'd take $33K. This is $2-3K above the KBB and Edmunds Private Party price. I don't mind paying a premium for a "like new" car, but...

Been lurking for a while, thinking about taking the plunge

Thanks for your perspective! I will only put 1000 miles or so each year on this car. I have several other collector cars and a couple of daily drivers, so it will be lightly used. Still, I'm tempted to buy a warranty...Warranty Direct offers a 48-month, I think 40K miles, which looks decent, for...
