I have a friend living on the N. Carolina coast and he has started
getting rid of lumber and other objects in his yard that might become airborne,,,damaging his house.
Could be something as simple as a gas cap not on 'tight' or a bad gas cap..
Cheap fix if that is your problem? May also be something more expensive.....

First, I think I would run a CARFAX report on the VIN# just to see if there are any 'red flag issues' about the car in question.
If satisfied and it drives fine and everything works...... make the dealer an offer he can't refuse,,,,, because he has to either 'sell it or smell it' while parked...

A problem still lays undetected in nearly all automatic/car run through car washes > they use lots of recycled water used to clean other cars which drop oil, brake fluid, p/s fluid, tranny fluid, and who knows what else. They claim the recycled water is run through filters, but who knows...
Maybe a short, rubber vacuum cap that will fit over floor stud yet through the grommet will hold them in place. Go to a NAPA, CARQUEST, Advance Auto parts store to check out what will work....they usually have a large assortment of rubber caps. Good luck, p z
