Maybe passenger side sensor? Just a guess but try everything else before considering replacing the heater box. I think they started the assembly line with the heater box and built the car around it.
You don’t have to replace the harness but best bet is to splice in a load resistor and mount it away from anything that will melt. Most places that sell the LED bulbs will offer the resisters.
Maybe a late 08 model but I can’t confirm that. Could be a modern radio replacement in it. The stock radio does not have car play so no apps. Just wireless phone connection.

What mickeytee said is correct. This is easily tested with a tech2. I’m thinking a minor leak in head gasket could do this. Simple compression test will tell.
Assuming you are talking about the cruise control, seems to me the CD player is the driver in some way for that. I have an 07 V so replacing the radio had no effect on the cruise control. Based on this, I might guess that the Gap button on the steering wheel is routed Thur the CD player? Seems...
eBay. I have seen them for about $20 for set of 4. Look really good. I have black ones on my chrome V rims that look good on my black car. Seen them in silver also. 67mm are best fit.
