The easiest problem to fix would be if the bezel covering the radar module is obscured. It's the driver's side plastic smoke-colored cover. The passenger side cover is cosmetic only. Remove the cover by pinching the sides and pulling forward. Another possibility is the switch is bad (least...
The engine cooling fan is controlled by the ECM (Engine Control Module) through several sensor inputs. It will command the fan to run at variable speeds depending on what it perceives is the right amount of cooling required.
The fan will be commanded to the ON state when the following...
I'll take a look in the books tonight for something sensor-related and add to this if I have anything useful to contribute as to why the fan is running for extended periods.

A mystery hydraulic leak can get very expensive if allowed to continue. The absolute worst place to have it leak is (as mentioned) under the headliner. It will soak it up for awhile, and then . . . If allowed to come into contact with some of the other materials in the car, it can damage them...
One factor at play here is TIME. The '04's and '05's exhibited the crazing issue early on. GM's fix with '06 and subsequent years doesn't sound like it was fool-proof. Until recently, I haven't heard of later years having this problem, but with the passage of time, it makes sense for some...
The temp on your bezels isn't the only factor involved with this repair holding up. I work with a lot of adhesives and two important factors are cure time and the environment the bond joint will be exposed to (temp, pressure, humidity, etc,)
As a general guide, (since I don't know what brand...
I'm not sure how my statement was interpreted.
Crazing of the DRLs was flagged up to some of the 2006 model years when a fix with a more heat-resistant bezel was introduced for the 04-06 model years that needed to be fixed. By then, the 06's had Adaptive headlights, which electrically were...
Good to hear it was a firmware issue and the hardware is okay.
I think the reason for the problematic weekend comes down to one simple thing- not enough beer to continue troubleshooting. . .

As long as the repair restored it to like-new condition, you shouldn't take a price hit on it. A minor ATM bump that creases the hood isn't the same as being rear-ended at a light where structural damage is likely.
Current 2004 XLR prices are higher than any Cadillac built in 2004 of any...
The fix was implemented during the 2006 MY. Not all 2006's have it installed. It took time for the problem to become obvious on the 2004's before a revised part could be designed/built and fielded.
I don't think one crazed bezel should be a deal-breaker, but. . . if it bothers you now, it would probably bother you more later on. That being said, there are hundreds of XLRs on the road with this same issue.
You can avoid it by finding a later model (2006 and up) that sported the improved...
The Service History is missing a critical period of time -the last six years. And yes, for a ten year-old car, it is overpriced. Low-ball the seller and wait a month.

You might want to start a new thread since this is a completely different topic than Check Engine Lights being discussed in this thread.
By starting a new thread, a major benefit to all in the future is the topic can easily be found through the search function if someone has the same...
I probably should have written this years ago, but your post brought it back to my attention. I'm glad yours is working out. My Wind Restrictor experience for the most part was similar -except the after-sale support service. Mine ended up in the trash. Let me explain. . .
The WR does a...
While you're familiarizing yourself with the Tech 2, record all the open and closed count values for the various sensors. The next time you have an issue, refer back to the recorded counts versus the actual counts you're getting and the failure-prone sensor should be obvious.
While position...
