    Important! headlamps

Incandescent use the resistance of the tungsten filament to produce heat and thus the light they emit. LED bulbs do not use heat to produce the light. The resistors just replace the resistance of the tungsten filament and fool the car into thinking the incandescent bulb is still in the circuit...

    Important! headlamps

I replaced my DRL/TS incandescents yesterday w/LEDs from dt-autotech on ebay. I bought 45 LED lamps and they are as bright or brighter than the OEM bulbs. I added resistors, but I am not sure you need them. When I did my initial tests to confirm polarity, I did not get any burned out bulb...

    Winter Storage vs Winter Driver

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a therapy for chronic tremor diseases like Parkinsons, Dystonia, or Essential Tremor that do not respond to drug treatments or the patient has become resistant to or intolerant of the drugs. It can also be used to treat chronic pain in some cases. A pacemaker type...

    new toy on the XLR

OK, I may have a lead for you. I just replaced the insurance cards in my cars and when I replaced the XLR, the glove box light came on 'dimmed'. I adjusted the switch and it brightened to full intensity. Perhaps the switch is going bad or wearing. The first activation only produces a partial...

    new toy on the XLR

As long as you used automotive stranded 18-22 gauge wire you should be OK. Most auto applications use stranded wire to avoid interruptions should a single standed wire break. Multiple strands provide redundancy for the circuit. Do the other lights in the trunk also dim on initial openning or...

Jeff, Do you have any pictures of you new lighting? I am very interested to see it. Thanks, Al

You said you tied into the interior lights. Could you be getting the automatic dimming associated with the interior lighting when the trunk is open? Just a thought. I think you would be better off tying into the trunk lights.

    Worst Day of My Life

My friend asked his father-in-law, a crop-duster, how his day had gone. "It was the worst day of my life," replied the man. "This morning I was up in my plane dusting a field when I nicked a power line and damaged the wing of the plane. When I got back to the office, my boss chewed me out...

    new toy on the XLR

Jeff, Because the 'control functions' for the DRL/Turn Signal are upstream from the wiring at the bulb, you will need to find a different source for your wiring. If you have your DRL bulbs on all of the time it seems to me you will be disabling the front Turn Signal from your car. This may not...

Nice job on the LED eyebrows. I really like that look. I do have one question though, how did you get the LEDs to light w/o the DRLs being on given your description of how you splicced into the circuit? Thanks, Al

    new toy on the XLR

I believe there is a 'control module' for this circuit and it uses the same physical wiring to manage the DRL and Turn Signal function through the single lamp and element. I am not 100% certain, but I believe the control circuitry is the reason the 'switch back' LED bulbs do not work on the...

    new toy on the XLR

A simple 3M splice connection into the DRL wiring should work just fine as long as you maintain the polarity for the LED strip. Then the LEDs will funtion simultaneously with the DRLs. Steady ON for DRL and flash for the Turn Signal. Adding additional switches will complicate the install.

    Help! LED Light Questions

I think I may have figured out why the 'switch back' LED bulbs do not work with the XLR. I think both the DRL and Turn Signal use the same element of the bulb (the lo element). The control module energizes the element for the DRL function whenever the car is taken out of Park (unless the driver...

Any chance you might post a picture of your XLR w/the LED DRL as explained? Thanks,

    Important! headlamps

As I understand it, the melting issue is not with the headlights, it is with the Daylight Running Lights (DRL). The lens on the DRL starts to melt and looks crystalized or crazed. Several members on the forum turn their DRLs off when they drive (turn the HL switch on turn signal stalk down from...

    new toy on the XLR

I bought all of my LEDs on ebay. The 3157, 3156, and the regular 194 LEDs all came from dt-autotech as well as the resistors for the DRLs (3157). I bought the forward facing LEDs from gtautohause. They both had free shipping and were amazingly fast in getting them to me. You can visit their ebay...

    new toy on the XLR

The trunk lights are standard 194s and they are very easy to replace. The back-up lights are 3156. I used 45 LED bulbs and they do a very good job of lighting the way. Actually I have bulb #s for everything except the vanity mirror lights for anyone that is interested. Does anyone know what...

    HID Headlights

You should be able to remove the console light assembly with a flat bladed tool like a butter knife or putty knife. Once you are able to get either the top or a side exposed the entire assembly just pops out. I also replaced the interior incandescents with LEDs, however, mine still retain the...

    Help! LED Light Questions

Thanks for the update and the information on the resistors required. Has anyone found an LED that will work for the DRL function? Does anyone know why the Cadi engineers would specify a dual element bulb and then use only one of them for the DRL/Turn Signal function in the car?
