    News: Battery Replacement

Battery Replacement finale. Well, I took the old Battery (likely the original) to a shop and the magic machine said "Battery needs Replacement" I went to the GM site (thanks PAX) and was pleased to read that there were no present Recalls. There is room for a larger battery but not much. None...

TPMS Reprogramming - How to get "Programming Mode"?

TPMS FUBAR PAK If you have not yet resolved your TPMS problem or gone to the GM Dealer, I was wondering if you had considered disconnecting the Battery overnight? Volume 2 of the 2008 Service Manuals has a long list of cautions like recording Theft Lock # on Radio etc. B Before you do that...

    News: Battery Replacement

Cigarette lighter outlet GOOD ADVICE I tried that and as you said, the outlet de-energizes after a short period of time. Since my car is usually under the car cover in the garage and since I have automatic lighting when I open the garage door, the mirror lights being on were not evident. I...

    News: Battery Replacement

My battery had gone near death this past Winter and it took some time to get it charged and operational again. Twice in a period of 2 weeks recently, it was low voltage again. I had been having a problem with the car switching from Imperial to Metric. I pressed the various dash buttons trying...

TPMS Reprogramming - How to get "Programming Mode"?

Flats etc. The TPMS on my 2009 Denali started leaking as there is galvanic action between the valve and wheel materials. A white oxide eventually builds up and causes slow leaks. One TPMS had failed due to dead battery (4years). AT $125 each, I had them all removed and regular valve stems...

TPMS Reprogramming - How to get "Programming Mode"?

TPMS FUBAR I googled TPMS and here is the link and my comments. I have wondered how you are making out. I have checked a few sources and find NO reference to the sensors being 'charged' by driving. They have small batteries which fail sooner than expected. Certain scan tools can tell...

    Struts on he hood

I replaced my Hood Struts a year ago with new ones from GM. I noticed this Spring that they already are losing their strength. An easy repair. For shows I use a piece of slotted plastic tubing and slip it over one of the strut pistons to assure that the hood will not slam on anyone. It also...

    Front Bumper Sensors

Mice Not good at all. Their urine smell would gag a maggot and is almost impossible to remove. Better put a mouse trap nearby with the filter out and cover door open, or push the trap in securely tied to a wire. Then turn on some rap music..............loud.

    Front Bumper Sensors

Cabin Air Filter Will you tell us exactly where the Cabin Air Filter is located? I am not sure if the 2008 has one. Some vehicles have a stacked pair of filters. I have some 'old' fuel to run through as well. Thanks, Gord.

TPMS Reprogramming - How to get "Programming Mode"?

TPMS It is time to go to the GM Cadillac Dealer. Note to Self "Do not mess with the TPMS". Put some lube on the valve stems as that is where corrosion occurs resulting in slow leaks. Use only plastic Valve Caps. Metal ones will seize and you can break the stem off removing them. I hope...

Warning! Heads up on Heads Up Display

etest Back at the shop today for second try at Etest. The Evaporative test does not compute unless the fuel tank is 1/4-3/4. I had a full tank so that test was 'not ready' Still got a Pass. Next time (2 years) I will have it done in the fall when tags are current and battery is UP!

Warning! Heads up on Heads Up Display

I may have posted this before, but now that spring is here - sorta, be aware that Polarized Sunglasses block the Heads Up Display. I thought my Display had failed and searched for a shady spot at High Noon to RTFM. After pushing a lot of buttons I happened to remove my new shades and voila...

    Engine cover

Engine Cover Painting Well done! I think it would have looked great in the matching gold mist too. Mine was already done to match the Crystal Red Tintcote (2008). The 4 longitudinal stripes and the 8 rectangular depressions were done in Gold. I am an hour or 2 West, Hamilton area. Hope to...

Cheapy Battery tender. I don't know if the 'Battery Tender' goes into desphurization mode (current reversal) but that is not a concern with 1ma or less DC IMHO. If it starts in the Spring (MAY?) I'm good!

    Run flat tires

Mileage "There is more to life than MPG" I have Good~Year EMT's 235x50 ZR18 on my XLR and can get home with 4 flat tires! That is important to me. For anyone who has had a 409 or 327 with Isky, GTO 360 HP, etc, MPG does not enter into the menu.

Proud XLR owner with a problem

Batteries I don't think more CCA will help any prematurely dead/dieing battery situation. Replacement batteries are usually a bit higher in CCA due to wear on starter and plug degredation etc. Personally I like to keep batteries Delco in my GM Vehicles. I made a simple battery tender out of...

    Run flat tires

Run Flats. I have always expected the best and prepared for the worst. I bought new Good~Year 235x50ZR18 EMT tires when I purchased my 2008 XLR. I kept the best 2 of the take off's and they are really heavy. I like a firm ride and am more comfortable with knowing I can make it home with no...

    Front Bumper Sensors

Headlamp Washers I use mine to keep kids at a distance from the XLR. On my Denali in the salt and sugarbeet/brine/slime deicer that is sprayed on roads in Winter, they are a big help at cleaning off the light lens at night.

Trickle Chargers Lots of advice in this Thread! I have made several 'Trickle Chargers' for people who store their vehicles for weeks or months. I use the transformers off discarded phones and other devices which are rated from 300-1000ma (1 Amp) D.C. Determine the positive lead and attach...
