Grommets
Using the exploded diagram on the GM Parts Giant website I ordered what I could find that looked like a grommet for the carpet in the cabin and the divider in the trunk. Some of the replacements I received would not fit my 2006 XLR. To save someone from ordering the wrong parts here...
Sign up for the Bondurant Z06 experience and then you can drive the heck out of someone else's car and not worry about destroying yours. I had a great time for two days and you get to do all the driving on a closed course you can stand. Z06 = 505 HP with a standard transmission on the track...
Interesting, must have been added in later production. They sit vertically just behind the silver cylinders and attach to the same upper bracket as the silver ones mounted outboard at the bottom of the scissor lift mechanism, not sure about the opposite end as it disappears under the trunk...
Rob, you are so right. When I went to the Bondurant school of high performance driving they told us that the price for the two day class will be the least expensive thing we could do to make our cars go faster. At that time the price of a ZR-1 include a two day training course at Bondurant and...
I had the trunk open today and looked at the mechanism. There are two silver hydraulic cylinders one on each side and next to them there are two black cylinders that look like gas charged struts to me. It looks like they work in conjunction with the hydraulic cylinders to assist in raising the...
Thermostat Replaced
Installed a new 180 degree thermostat from Auto Zone and everything appears normal. Don't forget to get a new gasket as the one that comes with the thermostat will not fit the Northstar engine. They didn't list one for the XLR-V so I checked the XLR base and it was listed...

Yes it did, The first indication of a problem was the message "Engine hot - A/C off" on the DIC after driving about five miles from home. I looked down at the temp gauge and it was against the peg on the cold side. I raised the hood and checked the radiator hose and there was no pressure...
You can take your fob with you and they can still park it. Just can't get back in till you give them your fob when you are ready to pick it up. Prevents them from going on a joy ride after they park it. I also reset the trip meter and leave it displaying on the DIC so they know you are watching...
The sensor is located on the back of the passenger side head. It's a tight squeeze between the head and the firewall, but you can reach it and unplug the connection if you have small hands. It's probably the thermostat though. I just had the same problem and picked up a new stat to put in this week.
Took a drive the other day and it was slow to warm up like the thermostat was stuck open. Picked up a 180 degree thermostat at Auto Zone. It looks like two bolts and a little coolant and it is in. The intercooler coolant pump ran for 3-4 minutes after shutting the engine off which was a...
Thanks for the suggestions. Thermostat makes sense. I changed the coolant in the engine and CAC last month and made sure everything was topped off correctly, but in years past it seems that the thermostat usually goes whenever I have done that on other vehicles as well. Does it make any sense...
Thanks for the suggestion Giz. I read that the ECM checks the coolant temp. over time and will set a DTC if the engine does not warm up as quickly as expected suggesting a thermostat that is stuck open. Strange message in the DIC for a thermostat that is stuck open "Engine hot - A/C off". The...
Left the house and got this message in the DIC about 5 miles down the road. Checked the gauges and the temp was on the left peg showing no temp at all. The engine fan running at high speed, but the radiator hose had no pressure on it at all and the engine was not hot. Checked the engine temp...
Bruce, I received a DVD and dash plaques today. Looking at the pictures makes me really regret missing the homecoming even more. Couldn't believe how many XLRs you had there and all of the colors!
Thanks to you and Kathy for thinking of us.
