    Fuel door latch

Steve, 60-65 is dangerously low. You need to fix that to the correct 100 immediately. Always tighten the lugs in a sort of diamond pattern. I tighten to 60 first and then go to 100, can't speak for others but I have never had to tighten a lug nut when I go back to check after about 100 miles...

Low grade fuel pinging. need help

Just for info, the carbon build up has an almost trivial affect on compression BUT, it glows red/white hot and pre-ignites the fuel. Ideally you need to get it removed as explained here. And for my benefit, does anyone know why it doesn't just burn off? It is a creamy/white hard deposit, not...

    brake fliuid

I do hope your brake fluid was not 10 years old. It should be replaced (fully flushed) every two - three years. As the XLR is a performance car, every two years is indicated.

    brake fliuid

You should use a low viscosity (ESP) formulation. And DOT 3 if it gets very cold.

    Fuel door latch

I explained how to get to the solenoid years ago. I'll look for the thread. Your symptoms match the 'puller' in the solenoid needing lubrication. It is here, step #9. Gas Cap Door Solenoid

MAJOR PROBLEM WITH NORTHSTAR OIL PUMP!!!

And checking that bolt is difficult because the steering rack is in front of it, so that has to come out, which means removing the front suspension and spring, for which the special tool to release the spring is required.

    Wheel lugs

Can you clarify this? It is only necessary to remove the driver's side rear wheel and inner fender to get to the gas release solenoid mechanism (as well as from inside the trunk). The work outside the car is easy, routine stuff. The work inside the trunk is tricky in that it is awkward and...

    Gas Cap Door Solenoid

At post #9, I put what you have to do to lubricate the whole mechanism.

Help! New battery on my '04 XLR will go dead in a few days.

With difficulty. Look for easy solutions first and the easiest is to check where you keep the fob. If it is close to your XLR, then it will keep the car 'awake'. A common mistake is to store to fob inside the house next to the door into the garage, so while there is a wall between the fob and...

    Cruise control

Probably not the same cause, but I have had the ACC disengage when it has been jammed by another signal, at least, that is what I have always assumed it to be. Works fine and then just dops out and will re-enage immediatly (ie I press the button), then no problems again. It is a rare occurance...

    Help! Exhaust module

For anyone doing a search on this topic, solenoid might be helpful.

    Noises from the front

Let me support what CC said, you NEED the correct special tool for that transverse spring, do not attempt the job without the correct tool. There is a lot of energy in the spring and you have to pull it off the suspension. There must be Corvette specialists in Germany surely?

    Intermittent Starting

Glad it has worked for a month. Should it happen again (and it might), you need to suspect two possible problems: 1/ The sensor (switch) on the brake pedal is failing, easy to replace 2/ A corrosion problem in the BCM at the harness end for the brake pedal position sensor. Several have...

I got good news on my balky top retraction problem

The latch either releases or it doesn't. On lock, it pulls down. Once released the decklid is powered by hydraulics, the latch is physically too far away to have any influence in decklid operation.

    Intermittent Starting

    Glad it is fixed.

    Help! CD's won't eject 08 XLR

I agree w CC, that ring comes off pretty easy. It has a very slight 'dimple' type retainer on the left and right sides moulded into the plastic (not front and back), if you gently pry the ring open wider to the left and press down and then repeat on the right, it pops right off (down). Use a...

2004 XLR doors trunk lid locked up

If (and I do mean if), if everything is working correctly, using the key engages the pump and the deck lid lifts automatically. However, if there is a fault, it has to be raised by hand. The geometry of the key location and effort required to raise the deck lid by hand is such that it is a two...

    Help! Check engine light

Cleaning the MAF is a good move too; it takes more than one tank of premium to work through. After three tanks, then time to consider other options. All four O2 sensors have been replaced right? You have had the induction checked for leaks too right? If so, replacing the MAF might be a step...

Help! rain damage to leather trim

While too late for now, look for leather treatments which help to waterproof the leather for the future.
