No response=no change in idle when you pump the gas pedal...VERY frustrating!! Good point on the vacuum check. I had forgotten about that trick... I'll give that a try first....

    XLR Service Bulletin Details

All valid points and next on my to-do list. Thx for the conventional wisdom! I'm leaning toward vacuum though. Your post reminded me that one of the issues with the 2004 XLR was intake manifold bolts that were proned to loosening... Time to get out the 'ol torque wrench. If any of y'all could...

Yup, new battery... Same problem... Interesting suggestion on the ignition coils... Couldn't hurt to look into that... Don't understand why that would cause the lack of response from the gas pedal though.... I'm starting to lean toward something in the main computer that governs all the ignition...

Hi Guys, Still going thru idle issues with the 2004 XLR. To re-summarize: sometimes the idle is rough and will bounce between 800rpm and 1100rpm will no response from the gas pedal. Had it at the dealer for 2 days and they couldn't figure it out. The said they've never seen...

Engine Sensors_Top Switches and Check Engine Light

Hey All, I'm starting a new Thread. My old thread " Bad Throttle Linkage?? " was getting a bit off the Title topic... I'm still trying to troubleshoot the Check Engine Light. I took the top cover off the engine to get a closer look at the intake...

    Bad Throttle Linkage??

Check Engine Light Reset A thought just occurred to me... If by some stroke of luck I stumble across and repair the issue(s) tripping the check engine light, will the warning light circuit automatically reset and turn itself off? <or> does that annoying Tech 2 unit have to reset it...

    Bad Throttle Linkage??

Down But Not Out OK... So I see this 2 year old posting on the forum: "A new issue was discovered that is appearing in older XLR and some STS models with the Northstar V8. My layman's explanation, based on a much longer discussion with the Tech is that, over time, the heating and cooling of...

    Bad Throttle Linkage??

Woe is Me OK... So... Just got the XLR back from the dealer to check out 3 issues: 1) Top does not retract after the trunk module replacement, but trunk lid opens fine.. I assumed that the module just needed to be reprogrammed.. ((estimate for repair: $240 )) 2) Diagnose check engine light on...

    Bad Throttle Linkage??

XLR Trunk Compartment Drain AMENon the absent drain hose.. It's fool-proof now on draining that inevitable flood... I just snipped the flap off the bottom of my '04's drain hose. Now you can see the ground looking from the compartment side... IMHO there was never a need for a hose anyway...

    Bad Throttle Linkage??

Retractable Top Programming? Hey Guys, Do I read right that after replacing the retractable top module in the trunk well, it has to be re-calibrated with a a Tech 2 by the dealer??? Thx...

"Service Ride Control" and top not working

Hey Kev, Sorry to hear about the water issue. I just went thru the same problem and symptoms and lost both of those modules in that compartment... If you remove them and inspect the internal circuit board I suspect that you will see that they are fried since these units are...

    Bad Throttle Linkage??

Mission Semi-accomplished... Well, the saga continues. (Grab two beers and get comfortable, this has turned into a blog) After many many hours cleaning the corrosion off the wiring harness connectors in the trunk pocket, and replacing the control modules that they were attached to, the...

Woo-Hoo!! Hi Bruce and Dave, Thx for the advice. It's purring like a kitten now with normal throttle response at idle... :rocker: Get comfortable, this is a long one... Here's what I did: () Started the car to wake up the evil spirits. Yup, died the first two tries...

Hi All, New member... Family member has a 2004 XLR. Had the usual dead battery issues but it always ran good... Now this problem has popped up: () Rain water in trunk pocket where wiring harness connectors are. Connectors were completely submerged for a few weeks due to a...
