XLR Options Did not know about

It does look like was done at Dealer, since it was shown on a "Cadillac options sheet". Thought maybe these options were factory approved dealer options.

XLR Options Did not know about

Hi members, I follow BaT everyday and last week saw this 2004 XLR come thru and sold. Did not know you could get all these "factory options" on and XLR, let alone a 2004 first model. Things like "Lowering Kit", "3 Pc 19 & 20" wheels", "EridaSpeed Brakes" and "Desert Package", among others...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

Thanks Fireduck69, makes sense. Did you use the Metra adapters for the wiring harness? What brand system did you put in and does it work well with FM reception? I have a Kenwood and a Jensen I retrofit in other vehicles and FM reception is marginal compared to my factory XLR and new Malibu stereos.

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

@Fireduck69 : Good info, thanks. Just wondering if you pulled the “sill plate” to run wires under carpet to back trunk area? Did you pull an interior panel behind the seat as well? Looks like the sill plates are very tight to floor/jamb and may be hard to pry up without breaking? I can see once...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

If you can get the wires to the trunk area and get them out to license plate area (via a little hole in bumper cover possibly) then I would suggest a license plate frame that has a camera mount built into it. I did this for my 2001 GMC truck, and it works very nice. No need to mount camera...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

@geepapa: Yes, I would be interested as to how the camera wires would be run as well. Looking at the door sill plates, I cannot see how they get removed (unless pull up with clips, but will they break then??). Maybe wires could be run somehow thru console and into truck area, as the back part of...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

@ Both: How is your new systems radio reception, when using FM? I installed a Kenwood in my GMC truck and a Jensen in my 67 Nova. Both do not have great reception for some stations in my area, when compared to my Std XLR radio or my 2023 Malibu radio. I know the "tuner" is what makes a better...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

@rexster314: Your install looks nice too. Did you do it yourself, or have it done? You have a backup camera added?

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

@rexster: Easy way to make it look better would be to vinyl wrap it (carbon fiber or wood look) or paint it. They come black ABS so easy to make look better if you want. I would probably do something like that if I ever update mine. As long as Hal is happy with it is all that matters. We all...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

Yeah, I hear you! One can get crutched by a back up camera and then when I get in our C5 or my 57 Chevy, I have to do things the “old way”! Lol 😆 Does your C7 have a front camera too? I thought they did, which can help from curb killing the front end!

Thanks for info Hal. Sounds like a nice job and improvement! Good you found a reliable place for install, I have a hard time trusting places to work on my collector cars, so do a lot myself. I did find the facia cover on Metra website, as well as other connections they have, for others wanting...

Do you have the voice commands thru the button on the steering wheel? Did they have to run a new microphone somewhere in the interior as well?

    Help! Sirus XM Radio Function

Bill, GM/Cadillac must have switched in 2006-2009 to have XM antenna in mirror housing. My radio kept stating "no XM signal", so has to be it is missing the antenna, based on you and others saying you have no problems. When Sirus was trying to troubleshoot, they mentioned taking car to a dealer...

    Help! Sirus XM Radio Function

Bill, Thanks for info, makes sense about 2006 & up having the antenna in windshield. Mine is 2005 and another XLR owner I got to know in my area has a 2005, and theirs has the “bulge/shark fin” on the trunk that shows “XM” on it. Mine does not have that, so thinking my issue is “no XM antenna”...

    Help! Sirus XM Radio Function

Dennis, did you have any issues activating it? Did you have to disconnect battery at all to "reset it". That was the suggestion from Sirus today. Thanks

    Help! Sirus XM Radio Function

Does anyone in our forum have an XLR (with factory radio) that has the XM Radio functioning? I recently tried to have Sirus "start a subscription" for my XLR radio, since it appears to have XM functionality. Shows Radio ID on channel 0, has XM1/XM2 presets, and shows station names. After many...

    New to XLR Forum

@ Lulone, Nice you were able to get an XLR and V wheels in Switzerland! Here is updated pics of mine with "real blacked out grille" (previously did a photo rendering above). Used a can of Marhyde Black Satin, which is very good and holds up well. I also added the 2009 Platinum wheels this...

    New to XLR Forum

Was experimenting with MS Paint tonight. Still thinking of doing something to make grill different and "separate it" from the Silver of car color. Came up with this, wanted to get opinions from members. Definity losing the front license plate holder looks MUCH better and can do this in PA...

Power Seat Switch Cover remove & Grille Removal

Thanks for info Mickey! Yes, looked for used Base grilles, and even damaged ones, if you find them are like $400+. Not spending that for "experimental" purposes! May go the peel paint or wrap when I get around to it. Just got the car a month ago, so want to drive it for rest of summer.

Power Seat Switch Cover remove & Grille Removal

Mickey, Thanks for reply and info. I thought about doing something with the grille to make it look different. Being you can't get aftermarket Mesh grilles anymore; I am thinking other ideas. I looked thru all the pics in the forum gallery, and have not seen anything done to grilles, other than...
