There is no reset I am aware of, it should just work. As it is reading too low, check for a high resistance, use some contact cleaner on the connectors, see if that fixes it.
This has been discussed before, a long time ago. IIRC the message is mis-leading and there is an electrical problem, probably minor. From memory it goes something like this. The message says 'hot' because the ECM does not know what temperature the engine is, but does know there is a sensor...
The Cadillac workshop manuals have generally been written to minimize the cost of repairs, with careful sequences of tests before reaching the 'change module' option.
Thanks Rexster. As that started five years ago, I was wondering if the latest technologies had moved on over the last five years and what unit others would recommend for today.
Hello all
Well, sooner or later the OEM Satnav will show its age and in my X, it is taking 2-3 mins before it can read the nav DVD, then it mostly works fine but sometimes takes a long time with directions.
So, I am considering options to replace the entire unit. What are the best options out...
If you Google "tire rim to width chart" you will get a chart. The 18" wheel is either 8.5" width or 8.0" (I forget which). Ideal for 8.5" is 235 or 245. Max is 255. (If the rim is 8.0", subtract 10mm from those numbers.)
The XLR fuel system empties the passenger's side tank first, then the driver's side tank. Working normally, the passenger tank is emptied before the driver side starts, though fuel is being pumped between both tanks all the time. This depends on me remembering that the main fuel pump is in the...
Be very careful doing this as you can easily kill your meter. You need to put a heavy duty cable in parallel with the meter and leave it in place for some time after you reconnect the battery, I would suggest an hour. This makes sure everything has shutdown and is in sleep mode. Also, make...
Solved.
I followed this method to re-program the new TPM sensors.
I sourced the tool recommend here (post #3, thank you Ian)
I purchased four new sensors from GM: part number 25758220 (AC Delco use the same number).
I had the new sensors fitted, tire pressures set to 30 psi.
Next, roof down...
Thank you Ian.
As I put in my first post, I am fitting NEW TPM sensors. That is why they need to be re-programed.
My point about the old sensors is that even at 17 years old, the old (original) ones are still working, if slowly. Thus I take the view that new sensors supplied by GM are...
Thank you for that Ian.
I remember that I will get one chirp per wheel (two at the last wheel), it is that first chirp before the first wheel that is unclear. So, the manual you have states one chirp at the start. If anyone wants to go and prove this in their X, it is a simple test...
I'm back where I started, with the same question anyone?:
Does the reset the TPMs process start with a single chirp or a double chirp? I get a single chirp, the workshop manual states I should get a double-chirp.
Using the EL-50448 reset tool (thanks Ian) has not worked, I don't get the horn...
If you have a fully working battery tender connected and it is showing fully charged, with no problems, then the parasitic draw on the battery doesn't matter, the tender will be providing enough to cover that. The tender I use goes through a series of different charging profiles until it is...
Thank you all for your replies
According to the workshop manual and this thread here: Tire pressure re-set tool, the horn should chirp twice (not once) at the start of the reset.
What my memory says is that it starts with a single chirp, and that the double chirp is a mistake in the manual...
Hello all
I was planning on re-programming the (new) TPMs on my 2004 X but have gotten stuck.
I go into Accessory mode fine and press both buttons on the remote. After 3-4 seconds a get a single chirp, I'm expecting a double chirp. So far I haven't managed to get a new sensor recognized...
What tires do you have? Isn't 30 psi the correct pressure? I find that too high on my X and run 28 (I'm not on run-flats). Run-flats had a higher pressures (stiffer sidewalls). I have checked the pressures with a contact-less thermometer. The temperature should be the same across the width...
I don't think the code will clear after 24 starts. That system is to clear a history code from memory, ie a code that has been there and is now no longer present and hasn't been for 24 starts (the number of starts required might not be 24, just some number, usually a few dozen). After some...
Yes, I fitted the Hotchkis set front and rear. If there are different grades, I don't recall which I fitted. The front is bigger than stock and hollow, that is all that comes to mind. It was a long time ago. The 'middle' setting on the rear fits with my memory too. I had to use a silicone...
