    Incomplete printed manuals

Hi All, Well, been there, done that. Sadly, you get what you pay for and anyone selling a PDF version isn't going to have it all. I ended up buying a real 'set' for my specific flavor from this place: https://books4cars.com/smartsearch.php?findmake=Cadillac&model=XLR&year=2007&type=Shop...

XLR parts for sale - ride control modules, shocks, interior parts, headlights and tail lights

Hi Kenn - and, you're welcome. Familiarize yourself with RockAuto as they're as big as they get and with the best prices I've come across, often even considering transport costs and such to Canada. I've actually tried to help my local CarQuest store yet had him reply "that's even less than my...

XLR parts for sale - ride control modules, shocks, interior parts, headlights and tail lights

Used shocks from an old XLR? Hmmm..... Here's new, which I'd certainly recommend over used - especially for this car sorry to say. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/cadillac,2005,xlr,4.6l+v8,1430952,suspension,shock+absorber,7556 HTH!

For Sale Someone stop me before I buy again!!

Seriously. If I was closer I'd already have scoped it out and probably possess it. Helluva scam or imho, a ridiculously low price if one is able to do some work by one's self. I have no knowledge of this car or the seller (I just 'borrowed' the ad and pictures for us all) - perhaps s/he's...

Sound insulation on the sides in the trunk...

Q for anyone who might have actually looked behind the carpet that's on the sides of the trunk: how is the insulation looking in there in your XLR? Reason I ask is, I'm fidgeting with all sorts of stuff on mine - let's not forget it's #67 off the line so it's not so young. I can say best as...

Window stuck after door panel removal

Hi Mel, One has to ask: what were you doing with the door panels off? First would be to recover any screws or other fasteners etc that might have fallen in. If a door glass feels loose, possibly its not being 'pinched' adequately by the two bolts, brackets and rubber bits that hold it to the...

    Manufacturer Buy Back

Morning, Google 'Manufacturer buy back'. I did and read a pretty positive blurb which imho would -not- make me hesitate at all. Here's select portions of one page I found: "Manufacturer buybacks are vehicles that have been repurchased by the manufacturer due to unresolved issues reported by...

Need A Body Control Module for a 2006 Base

You tube wizard costing you money

Wizard.....I did take the time to skim through his video and a fair amount of time reading the comments there. IMHO he's bought a XLR with a bad engine... -for himself- or for resale. He's used his YouTube status probably to get free parts and probably even a spare engine in return for the...

question with driver information center (question answered)

Welcome! So does the switch actually toggle yet do nothing? Maybe just a bad switch? I don't honestly recall the sequencing but it has to be a top-level menu selector, and maybe whatever next level you're in isn't set. I'd be quite tempted to toggle it up and down quite a few times and maybe...

    thermostat housing torque spec discrepancy

Hi Dennis, Common sense imho says 89 in-lbs is low. That's 7.5 ft-lbs by my quick math. With a decent torque wrench I'd have no problem to snug them down to 10 ft-lbs. 6mm fasteners I do believe so they should easily handle the 15 ft-lbs if you care to go a bit tighter. :)

    Beware Beware

What Michael said for sure. That's a shocking hit to the XLR community - I just went through the list over at Copart and I guess due to the location and the popularity XLRs in that area, that has to be the biggest 'hit' to the existing fleet in a long, long time. :( Hope this link will point...

    Tonneau Cover Links Needed

Hi Mickey and thanks. Yeah, it's kind of fun to try to make things better while I'm going along. It's about to be a 20-year-old car and for sure the plastic sockets were never intended to go that sort of time or distance. I hope you're pitching all those sensors in a box somewhere! Pricey...

    Tonneau Cover Links Needed

Hi Mickey, Well, you got my curiosity so I wandered upstairs and dug out that shambles of a linkage to have a good look-see. Are the ones you have the same? They sure appear to be 10mm ball-ends and if it's for the little side covers, one-per and bolted on to whatever, probably with a 6mm...

    Tonneau Cover Links Needed

Hi John, Ball and socket joint I do believe? If you're a bit handy, well, I got some really nice ones from this place: https://www.automotioncomponents.co.uk/en/catalog/linkages-rotary-components/clevis-joints-turnbuckles-ball-socket-joint/ball-socket-joints/ball-socket-joints/g+m+c+s Not for...

    XLR Hacks

Howdy! Can't say I have an answer for point #1. I do hope the car is nice and dry - the last thing these need is any form of moisture! Pretty much ditto for point #2. That door switch is relatively inexpensive and an easy fix. I'd hope the passenger door module isn't misbehaving as I do...
