My XLR/V(s)
2006 platinum XLR-V
Pictured below is the OEM cat back exhaust system from my 2006 XLR-V. It is in very good condition, both in appearance and function. The system includes the intermediate pipe, (H pipe), and both left and right mufflers. The vacuum actuated muffler baffles open under aggressive acceleration for low back pressure and increased power. All clamps are integral and intact.

GM shows that this entire cat back system has the same part numbers for the 2006 and 2007 Cadillac XLR-V.
GM also shows that both of these mufflers have the same part numbers for the 2008 XLR-V but the intermediate pipe, (H pipe), has a different part number and might not fit?
GM shows that the 2009 XLR-V has different part numbers for the intermediate pipe, (H pipe), and both mufflers. Therefore none of this system may fit the 2009 XLR-V.

Asking $400 + shipping.

Will this system fit my 2005 XLR ?

Mechanically it should bolt right up... but you'd have to plum a vacuum line to the rear (and a way to turn it off/on) to get the butterflies to function - not impossible, but just something that needs to be thought about.

the system could also be left in permanent open mode, or permanent closed mode. at least until you figure out the vac line issue lots of people have done this conversion, usually utilizing a "mild to wild" switch setup.
i bet you could even rig up a mechanical cable similar to a choke cable to actuate the damper.
i would just set it to loud and forget about it !! thats the point of the adjustable setup anyway!!
louder meaner exhaust!

Will this system fit my 2005 XLR ?

Hi DevilDog,

I sold these on e-bay several weeks ago. Thanks for your interest.

You would encounter two problems. First you would most likely need to fabricate a new hanger bracket for the rear of the "H" pipe from a XLR-V. Shown below are the exhaust systems from my 2006 XLR-V and the Corsa that I took off of my 2006 XLR. You can see that the rear hanger on the stock XLR-V "H" pipe rises above the pipe while the hanger on the Corsa from my 2006 XLR is positioned at the center axis of the "H" pipe. I don't think the "H" pipe from a "V" will bolt right into a base XLR and line up correctly. I do know that the bracket on the Corsa from my base XLR needed to be modified in order to bolt into my "V".

The second problem that you would encounter is just as Lextoy said. The vacuum actuated butterfly valves on the outboard exhaust tubes would have to be hooked up to a vacuum line on your car. Under low or no vacuum, these butterflys are open and the mufflers are in performance mode. Under high vacuum, these butterflys are closed and the mufflers are in mild/quiet mode.

Thanks to WV sunny days, Richard Yoo and Lextoy for your valuable input... After considering the issues / results I may not go this route.

After driving my Vette for 10 years with a Borla system I loved the sound. I could never 'wrap my arms' around the Corsa as it was higher pitched and more of a Euro sound to me; if one knows what I'm trying to explain...

However, all things considered, I may elect to go with a Corsa, which I believe is the next best choice. ( but I refuse to pay the outrageous price of a new Corsa system).

Thanks again.
