Sold a Blue 2004....Looking at a low mileage 2009
I have a 09 with 16,000 miles. The check engine light now stays on all the time. I have read here that putting on a new cap sometimes resolves the issue. $15 bucks is alot cheaper than going to the dealership! The car drives fine....gas mileage is terrific. How many miles need to be driven with the new gas cap before the "Check Engine" light goes off if that's the issue? Is there any chance of damage to the engine to continue to drive with the check engine light on? Thanks for the help.

well a cheap code reader or a trip to advance auto could get a code read and see what is wrong .once you get the code we can most likely give you some good answers. one member realized he was not really seating the cap correctly with a pull o nit and a turn 2-3 clicks past tight > I think thats what he said .The vette guys have the same issue if it is a cap. if you replace it , it should clear the light in one or two cycles at most. .
