I have owned a 93 Allante in the past and have the bug to get an xlr or xlr v and wondering if there is anybody out there that can give me a good reason to buy one over the other.

Welcome! As for one over the other, a lot depends upon the year. I own an 08 XLR and have had little to no problems.
