Hi all,

I've just woken my car up from its winter sleep. To my surprise the control panel for heating and A/C is black, dead, nothing. Checked fuses and number 29 ("Climate control system, Power sounder") in the instrument fuse box under the glove compartment was blown. Easy fix, I hoped. Putting in a new fuse, I hear a faint buzzing sound for a few seconds, then the fuse blows again. Next try, same thing happens. Dead panel.

Any theories? Don't really know in what corner to start looking. Unfortunately I have no Tech 2, at least not yet. Grateful for any help!

My XLR-V has been under attack by rats every winter for years.... and every so often they chew wiring causing issues like this. Something to consider.

Sorry to hear about your rat attacks, that's awful. But no rats in my case. I've been working in this garage every winter for years and no sign of them. Must be something else bothering my HVAC system. My car is a 2004, by the way.
