I've been told my transmission cooler lines are in need of replacement by my cadillac dealer... price labor and parts is a little over a thousand dollars. Has anyone bought the lines online? If yes where and how much?..
Thanks in advance..

My friend I would get a second opinion.

Actually the car has 155,000 miles...one owner, I am second..
I took care to cadillac dealer to get it checked out, etc...
It needs shocks, which i ordered on line, left brake light isn't working and they also said cooling lines are worn, suggested servicing transmission while changing the lines. The amount for transmission service and cooling line repair sure is high...I will call another dealer that is in my area...
I see where the cooling line online is about 150...
They also recommend servicing the rear end and changing plugs as well...

My thoughts exactly, I'm getting it back tomorrow. I want to look into all of this before I go through getting the repairs done..

you can go to any area corvette specialist for trans maintenance.
the trans etc are all very similar.
my guess is old rubber hoses are cracking. however if they arent leaking why bother?
probably local shop could take a look and do the same job for $200 instead of $1000.
maybe a good idea to get the tranny fluid replaced, and rear diff fluid.
and i would look into the coolant.
once again i had a local corvette guy quoting prices around 100 for the fluid changes.
rear diff should be even less.

I agree with you...Thanks alot! Being a new owner I want to learn as much as possible, am so thankful for this forum!
There are many things that need to be done, and I want to do...
I replaced a ride control sensor, which made the warning message go off..that led to shocks needing replacing as well as tie rod ends needing attention..
Yes I'm taking it to my local guy (garage) to look into tranny cooling line, he will let me lift it to inspect, etc...
I want to get transmission and rear end serviced priority.
Enough from me.. again thanks!

Transmissions are tricky. With 115,000 miles, I would be shocked if it hadn't already been serviced, if it hasn't that's usually not good.
Sometimes old transmission fluid is the only thing keeping it working, and doing a fluid/filter change can cause lots of problems.
I would look at the current fluid, and smell it. If it's in bad shape, and I couldn't afford the transmission rebuild and it's not really slipping, I'd leave it alone.
Maybe it's different with these units, I doubt it though.

I'm going to get shocks replaced at the dealer in the town next to me. Cadillac dealer here is charging 400 more for replacement! Wow
My local dealer said cooler line is leaking and recommend servicing tranny.
So, I am going to let the myrtle beach dealer look at line, etc...
