This morning, I added the VIN, Order Number, PVI Number, Charge to Dealer Number, and Ship to Dealer Number into the Registry for every single 2006 Cadillac XLR and XLR-V that was built – including Captured Test Fleet and Experimental XLRs.
I still have to run through all of them and add colors, options, etc., however, that’s going to take me a little bit of time since there’s over 4,000 2006 XLRs built!
Once all the information has been added, you’ll be able to use the Registry search function to see how many 2006 Cadillac XLRs were built specifically with your options!
We’ve been working hard on the Cadillac XLR Registry here and adding in option codes, build dates, and invoicing agents from GM records for all XLRs entered in the Registry. We’re about 3/4 of the way through.
Right now, all the 2009 XLRs are done and we’re slowly finishing up the 2008 XLRs.
We’ve also added additional statistics, corrected erroneous data and added a couple enhancements to the search functionality. We will be rolling out additional enhancements to the search capability over the next couple of weeks.
Today, GM released an important service bulletin for the 2007 – 2009 Cadillac XLR regarding a condition where a fuel odor can be detected, or fuel droplets appear below the lef-thand fuel tank with the fuel gauge reading above a 1/2 a tank, or a malfunctioning indicator lamp illuminates due to a leak path in the left-hand fuel pump module flange. For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after July 25, 2016, are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to July 25, 2016, must be submitted to the Service Contract provider.
Correction
Dealers are to replace the left hand fuel tank fuel pump module. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.
I’m posting this because after a long search online, I found nobody who had this issue, despite the Cadillac dealer telling me that this is a “common” problem.
This is my 2005 XLR, it started to get some wind noise and I figured a seal had started to wear. Dealer looked at it and said the same and recommended a silicon product for the roof seal.
Then while driving down the highway at around 70mph, the roof panel flew off the car. Thankfully it didn’t hit anyone or cause an accident.
So, make sure you get your wind noise checked. Apparently this was an issue with Corvettes around that time, but I’ve seen nothing on the XLR.

CONDITION
On some 2004-2009 model year Cadillac XLR and 2005-2013 model year Chevrolet Corvette vehicles, equipped with power seats, the wire harness connector from the seat side airbag and buckle tensioner to the body has a design interference between the vertical adjust crossbar and the carpet. When the seat is moved forward or back, the connector may be dragged along the carpet, pulling terminals loose or pulling the connector apart. This will cause a diagnostic trouble code to be set and the service airbag light will be illuminated.
SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT
This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.
Dealers will replace the affected harness connection with a soldered connection. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

Cadillac’s global expansion continued in January, with total sales of 20,625 marking a 2.2 percent increase following the 7.5 percent growth of 2015. Cadillac now enters a period of key product launches which are planned to further accelerate the sales and reinforce the rising stature of the brand.
Cadillac launches the all-new CT6 flagship sedan in the first quarter of 2016, followed closely by the first-ever XT5 luxury crossover which enters the luxury market’s strongest segment.
“Cadillac’s global expansion is building momentum, particularly now as we prepare to launch two all-new products,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen.
“Newcomers to the brand continue to express surprise and delight at the dramatically elevated product substance in the new generation of Cadillac products, resulting in them selecting well-equipped, high-end models. This drives up transaction prices, a powerful proof-point underscoring the rapidly rising prestige of the Cadillac brand.”
In January, Cadillac sales in China rose 16.2 percent, following record high performance in 2015. Sales in Canada and Mexico increased 44.6 percent and 21.2 percent, respectively, in January. The SRX Crossover tallied a 24.1 percent increase in January and the XTS rose 12.8 percent.
According the J.D. Power, the average transaction price of a new Cadillac topped $55,000 in the U.S. in January, highest among full-line luxury brands. Strong demand in the domestic market has driven inventories lower as the brand prepares to launch two new product lines in the first quarter of 2016.
Production of the new CT6 in the historic Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant commences in February, establishing a new top of the Cadillac range. Concurrently, the first-ever XT5 is being prepared for production at a newly commissioned line in Spring Hill, Tenn. The arrival of this sophisticated new crossover entry enables Cadillac to be well positioned to exploit the strong global demand for midsize luxury crossover vehicles.
