So, I understand that Alpine White was available on 2008 Cadillac XLR-Vs, but were they considered to be "Limited Editions" as well, or was that just for the base model 2008 XLR?

Rob,

As I understand the Alpine Whites the base models where considered "limited editions" but there was no cap on their production like the 2006 Black Stars and 2007 Passion Reds all numbered between 1 and 250. Mine has no production number on the door sill.

I believe the Alpine White XLR Vs are certainly rare....such an Awesome option:

Hope this is helpful.

Ugh...well this bit of information just blew some holes in my programming and logic for the XLR Registry. :pat:

So....259 Alpine White base XLRs were built in 2008. 250 of those which have the numbered sill plate - were the Alpine White Limited Edition XLRs?

Your XLR is basically one of 9 that did not receive a numbered sill plate? Is that the only difference between your Alpine White XLR and one of the "Alpine White Limited Edition" XLRs?

Rob,

Hate to say, but I don't believe any limited edition Alpine White XLRs have numbered sill plates. I keep a close watch on the XLR sales market and I
have never seen reference to a sill plate number on a White XLR. Not true for the others that have numbered sill plates (i.e. 2004 Neiman Marcus; 2006 Black Star; 2007 Passion Red)
As I understand it the Alpine White were limited edition (probably due to limited production availability in 2008) but never because the numbers were capped. This might also
explain why there are Alpine White XLR Vs although it does not appear they were originally contemplated in the marketing materials I have seen. There are no XLR Vs on the other limited edition models although Vs were being produced in 06 and 07.

Interesting that you say this, because since I've been working on the XLR Registry - I've obviously been keeping a very close eye on the XLR Market, and I too have not seen any reference to a numbered sill plate for the 2008 Alpine cars. However, I have seen plenty of references to numbered sill plates for the Neiman Marcus and Passion Red cars.

So....this leads me to the big question then: since the 2008 Alpine Whites were not sequentially numbered like the Neiman Marcus and Passion Red cars - are they really considered to be "Limited Edition" models or was that just the marketing lingo that GM used initially?

I'm so close to releasing the Registry, but it's these little inconsistencies that are slowing me down! LOL

My poor Rob,

There were 250 limited edition base model 2006 Black Stars and 250 limited edition base model 2007 Passion Reds. They only manufactured 198 base model 2008 Alpine White XLRs.
Which version do you think is the most "limited edition"? In addition there are only 61 Alpine White XLR Vs...the only "Limited Edition" XLR Vs ever documented as manufactured....

Now has that sufficiently protected the value of my XLR?
