Hello

I have a 2005 XLR, have had it for about 4 years, I live in Morristown NJ and only use the car from end of May to Labor day. Else It's stored in a heated garage for the winter. Car has 70,000 miles , I am 3 Rd Owner.

On my last trip to the dealership they told me I had to replace all 4 Shocks, No pun intended but I was shocked by the cost $6000 in Total. I had an independent garage confirm all 4 shocks are leaking and need to be replaced.

Any Advise other than suck it up and pay ?:dunno::dunno:

Thanks Rexster314

Does anyone know a good reliable independent garage that fixes XLR's in Morristown NJ Area ?

And it's not a real technical job from replacing standard shocks. Just an electrical connection on each shock. If you don't want to go that route, there's a trick using standard Corvette shocks and a "null" plug to fool the XLR. A search here would probably explain it better.

I just did all four on my 07 -v took maybe 5 hours with all the tinkering around to figure out the best way. If you want to come up to Scranton Pa some weekend, we could knock them out in about 3 hours.

Appreciate the offer.

Thanks for the offer, may take you up on it. Where do you normally buy your parts ? Shocks ? Which type did you buy ?

I got the fronts off Amazon and the tears from summit racing. My 07 might have been a bit harder to find. Rockauto is another place I frequent.

any good corvette shops in the morristown area ?
they would be very capable at putting on all 4 shocks.
but make sure you can bring your own parts.
you can find them significantly cheaper on your own,
labor cost at a private shop should be 2-3 hours tops, 2-3 hundred. depending on shop rate.
