Both Lift Cylinders for Hood Shocks Failed?

Hi All, Strangest thing happened today- opened the hood to my car, and the hood kept coming down. Had to use a board to prop it up. Is it possible that both ofthe hood lift cylinders (gas struts) failed at the same time? I could understand maybe one not working, but both seems sorta odd. :mad...

Check Engine Light on- Codes P0171 and P0174

Glad you were able to fix your problem! Thanks for the helpful advice. I decided to finally clean my mass air flow sensor, and low and behold- I had a few loose intake bolts. So hopefully by tightening those and cleaning the MAF, I won't see the check engine line for a long, long time. What...

Check Engine Light on- Codes P0171 and P0174

Thanks for the tip. It previously was showing the P0171 code when I had my K&N filter in, so I swapped back to paper filter and it disappeared for a month. Hmmm...idle has very minor hesitations, but not too bad. I'll poke around and see if I can find a loose hose. -Mark

Check Engine Light on- Codes P0171 and P0174

<tbody> Hi All, My check engine light came on, and I used a diagnostic tool to determine the codes triggering it are: P0171 and P0174 (see below). If I clean the mass air flow sensor, will this help clear the codes? Or do I really have to bring it in to the Cadillac dealership to have them...

UGLIEST/Most Dated part of XLR Interior - Aftermarket Gauge Faces? Update speedo/tach to LED bulbs?

Hi All, Despite the Bulgari trim piece, the 2004-2008 gauge cluster looks rather cheap and dated. I've had people get into my car and say "Wow- same gauges from a Chevy Cavalier!" And sadly enough, I can see why they'd say that- the color of the gauge cluster lights are a dim, old looking...

C6 Z06 Full Dual Mode Exhaust - how would it sound on the XLR?

Hi Rod....I found a local guy who's willing to sell me his C6 Z06 Full Dual Mode Exhaust for $225, so a lot cheaper than trying to get a XLR-V exhaust (which are really, really rare to find). I'd imagine the Z06 and XLR-V dual mode exhausts are pretty much exactly the same? Can't imagine the...

C6 Z06 Full Dual Mode Exhaust - how would it sound on the XLR?

So I've done some research, and it seems like this kit allows the dual mode Vette exhaust to function in the base XLR ("NPP in a Box Vacuum Retrofit System"): NPP in a Box ORDER NOW However, from most reviews I've read- folks typically just drive around with the valves all the way open ("wild"...

    Do you see XLRs??

I agree....SoCal is a perfect place for the XLR! Has there ever been a regional XLR meeting in our area? If not, we should organize one

C6 Z06 Full Dual Mode Exhaust - how would it sound on the XLR?

We have pretty rigorous emissions testing in California, so we're pretty limited as to what sort of exhaust mods we can do here.

C6 Z06 Full Dual Mode Exhaust - how would it sound on the XLR?

Hi All- I've thought about buying a C6 Z06 Full Dual Mode Exhaust that is posted locally here in San Diego. C6 Z06 Full Dual Mode Exhaust Does this bolt-on directly? Has anyone heard this exhaust on the XLR? Since only the XLR-V is set-up for the dual mode exhaust, would this function work on...

    Wanted to Buy: XLV-R Mufflers

Hi all, thinking of upgrading my stock XLR mufflers to the XLR-V for a deeper sound. Does anyone have a spare set sitting around collecting dust that they'd like to sell?

Help! Lockpick/iPod no longer working = bummer!

Lockpick Follow-up Hi All- forgot to write my follow-up. The best way to get the Lockpick working again: 1. disconnect iPod and reboot it 2. unplug both connectors for the Lockpick 3. put all the dipsticks up and down a few times to reset it 4. leave dipsticks 1 &5 down; all others should be in...

SLP Exhaust System: 2005-08 C6 Corvette "PowerFlo®" w/ VERY UNIQUE Cast Tip

Hmmmm.... "the angle of the arc doesn't match our bumper"....ok, sounds like the SLP tip is not worth it then- could look really bad. I'm very interested in the idea of just buying a XLR-V or C6 Vette exhaust and swapping out. Which of the 2 is louder/sounds better? Does the change in exhaust...

    Help! K & N filters

Thanks Jack for writing up those instructions. Very helpful! I have the rectangular stock replacement filter. Is the cleaner you mentioned a liquid solvent or is it just compressed air?

    Help! K & N filters

Hi All, I installed K&N air filters, and after 3 weeks- the check engine light came on. I have a hand scanner, and the code that's coming up is P0171. The filters seemed VERY oily when I installed them, but wasn't sure how to lower the amount of oil. Can I just rinse them out using tap water...

SLP Exhaust System: 2005-08 C6 Corvette "PowerFlo®" w/ VERY UNIQUE Cast Tip

Thanks everyone for your feedback...some interesting comments. GizmoQ - wow, I LOVE the exhaust tip photo you posted. Looks very close to the 2009 XLR tip. Is it currently for sale or just a prototype? Will it fit 2004-2008 XLRs? I'm not so concerned if it's not super shiny and doesn't polish...

SLP Exhaust System: 2005-08 C6 Corvette "PowerFlo®" w/ VERY UNIQUE Cast Tip

Hi All, I've been tempted to get the Corsa exhaust based on all the rave reviews on the XLR-Net forum boards, but not sure I'm willing to fork over the $ for it. Was looking for some cheaper alternatives and stumbled across this exhaust made by SLP...

Hi All, I'm finally going to remove my XM radio wart to have it painted. Does anyone happen to know what size socket I need to remove the bolt? Thanks, Mark

    News: Subframe support

Here's a thread I found on one of the Vette boards: Tunnel plate for C5 - Page 2 - CM Seems like it makes a bigger difference for the C5s instead of the C6s, which makes sense since the C5's stock plate is so thin. One guy with a 2008 Vette stated: "I had one put in and wasn't that impressed...

    News: Subframe support

Hi Popbigguy....can you tell a difference? I've always wanted to tighten mine up a bit more. Unfortunately we can't use a strut tower brace because of the magnetic suspension set-up, so was looking for alternatives.
