Giving The Middle Finger to GM
I am friends with Todd Chezum of Forecast 3D, which specializes in making automotive parts including headlights using commercial 3D printers (high temp polycarbonates for the headlights). But before Todd can make the headlights, 3D scans have to be made for which...
It's Old School
There is no link to my "parts bin." It' really an old fashioned "parts bin," that I go to for parts. There is no network link to it. I have get up and walk to it when I want a part.
Parts Quote
I have a few of the Sony DVS-2010 lasers in good condition in my parts bin. $275.00 for me to replace, plus the shipping fees. Best deal in the country.
$250.00
I would have done the laser cleaning for $250.00. Two hours tops, you could have watched. I would have soldered in a new lithium battery for $50.00 extra (recommended). Re-aligning the laser is bull****; the alignment is bullet proof (only after an serious accident-maybe).
Local Versanni
They are Versanni; but not sure what model. I called them and said I have an XLR and they said we have wheels for that car. Fronts are 20x8.5 and backs are 20x10s and they kept the offset a secret.
One of the few perks of living in SoCal is I live near most of the major...
Find Out the History Of This XLR
You need to do a VIN lookup; see who owned this car before, where it's been, any insurance claims.... An expensive ride like an XLR has a traceable history.
Lightning strike? There would be evidence: a burned a pillar, melted wiring, melted rubber, an...
Thank you for this info.
Out of all this tragedy, there is some small comfort in knowing we are still driving one of the last great American made (pre-bailout) Cadillacs. And I now better understand why so many important XLR parts are not available; GM has abandoned it's homeland.
Thanks for the Info
Thanks for the info Cubby. Called the company today, but no luck on the part I need. Though this company has a great deal on a new front XLR headlight (~$400) and has some other new XLR parts at around 50% of dealer cost.
Good people to support. They find and buy car...
Should Have Gone Bankrupt
That would be nice, just order the part...., BUT F-ing GM will not make this essential part and there is no supply left. And then there are the stupid wrecking-yards that crush XLRs before taking important parts out (every part in an XLR is valuable) of them.
Sorry...
Top Cadillac Mechanic in San Diego County
Might want to try GM Exclusive in Vista, CA. Art Montano (the owner) is a fully certified ASE/GM Master Technician. His work will better than any dealership Jim Bob and much more economical. I worked with him on an OnStar modification a while back.
Yea, it's underpowered
Yes, a bit slow by todays mini low-voltage CPU standards (Apple's A10 is 800mHz), but the chip does have onboard DSP and there is a GPU to free up processing load.
Though at around 500 MIPS, it is lacking. The OnStar module's CPU has more processing power (700 MIPS)...
I think there may be a way to get Garmin's navigation software to run on the XLR radio. Google's Android OS (low CPU demand and compact flavor of Linux) is free (the Google compiler is almost free) and a stripped down version compiled for the SH-3e chip might fit in the XLR radio's smallish 8Mb...
Good Info:
Thanks for this info about the Toyota Navigation disks. Shows how much better the software and support for Toyota/Lexus Denso radios are. Do you know of the Toyota model(s) this 13.1 disk is for? I want to get my hands on one.
