    Daily Chat

Jersey Trip This is a good place to mention my weekend trip from Ohio to Jersey and back. Out to Jersey on Sunday, returned Tuesday. My uncle celebrated his 97th birthday on Monday and the original plans were for me to drive my parents to Jersey in my CTS. My dad was a little under the weather...

    Is Certifed a scam?

CPO = 6 yrs / 100,000 miles coverage. With all the mechanical/electrical complexity of the XLR, I felt it was good insurance. I won't reach the 100,000 miles but my 2007 is covered into 2013. Cadillac Dealership has been first rate with taking care of things and there were a few including an...

How I Came To Buy My XLR

It was September 2008 and I was cutting my grass and thinking about replacing my 2005 CTS. Did I want a new CTS or ?? Not really sold on the new CTS and really liking the lines of the 2005, it hit me that the XLR was a much sharper CTS with 2 less doors. I went looking for pictures of the XLR on...

    XLR info...good stuff

Great Info. I had the potentiometer go bad causing an intermittent failure; it hung up in mid-air with the top in the trunk and the trunk lid skyward. Do you have a cycle event sequence listing that lists the order in which sensors/switches open/close during a top up and top down cycle?

    Emergency procedures

I had my battery go dead last week with the car in the garage with the windows up. No juice to open the door. So I tried the key lock in the rear bumper. A few key points: 1. the key lock in the bumper releases the trunk latch not the door latch (which I didn't know at that time and I don't...

XLR - Product Placement - Movie: State of Play

I was watching the 2009 movie State of Play with Russell Crowe and he's going to track down and meet with a character involved in the movie's web of intrigue and onto the screen pulls a black/cashmere XLR with screen shots of the car coming around the corner, closeup of the front grill and a...

    XLR driving music

2 weeks ago I went from Northern Ohio to Jersey (I'm a Jersey Boy transplanted to Ohio) to visit relatives to Maryland to see my daughter, son-in-law and grandson and back to Ohio - 1300 miles over a long weekend. Here is what I brought along: Chuck Mangione, Kenny G, Billy Joel, Lionel Richie...

    WTB: 1/18 scale XLR

I picked up a stock red XLR on eBay and also got a black 310 model. Swapped the stock wheels/base structure and tan interior into the black body and got my stock black/tan XLR.

Help! Roof Down Latches not latching

Dear Cubby558, Thanks for the document reference. Makes sense that the latches are slightly out of adjustment and it latches sometimes and not other times. My video shows no movement of the latch mechanism when it doesn't latch. When it does latch, it is a slow movement of the latch to engage...

Help! Roof Down Latches not latching

Dear XLR Ed, Thanks for the input. I have experienced the problem quite a few times with the car just started and windows up. It happened a few times when the weather was cold and I put the top down (or tried to put it down). Once it warmed up, I could see the pattern and ruled myself out as...

Help! Roof Down Latches not latching

2010-07-31 Update Score 1 for 1 - retracting and storing the top on the first try with no hangup. From the Cadillac service note: " ...found folding to position sensor not agreeing when in position. Sensor faulty. (Service writer told me it was a potentiometer. Makes sense). Replaced folding...
