I was cleaning the top and found another melted rubber bumper. This one is behind the seats under the tonneau cover and only visible when the top is stopped midway in it's travel. It looks like it may hold the top in place when it is lowered. No idea what the part number is for this one. I've...
One option would be to just mount a switch in the console and wire it to open and close the valves. I have done this and it works very well. All the module does is open the valves above 3500 RPM.
There are two gas struts, one on each side of the trunk lift mechanism to assist the hydraulics in lifting the trunk. I suspect they may be getting weak and need to be replaced. I was wondering if that would become a problem as our cars get older as they always fail in other applications over...
I believe any GM dealer service department can give you a printout of any & all service preformed to your car by a GM dealer if you give them the VIN number.
The red one without a doubt. See if you can get them to come down a little more though. The 2007 will also have the six speed transmission vs. the five speed in the 2004. It's more than just an extra overdrive gear, it's a tougher transmission still used in current production cars.
I remember another thread on here from someone with a similar problem and it turned out to be a loose ground wire to the fuel pump causing an intermittent condition. Might do a search and see what you can find.

I actually had to go out and listen to the turn signal on my XLR when activated. Mine makes a very clear and distinct clicking sound when a turn signal is on. I'm not sure on the XLR, but on most of my GM vehicles the "flasher relay sound" is replicated by the sound being generated in the...
I'm not worried. When I can't repair my XLR anymore due to lack of parts I should be able to sell parts off of it for more than the complete car is worth. I have already seen Allante' owners doing the same. One Allante' owner I knew parted out his car for quite a bit more than it was worth...
I would suggest taking it to a Corvette shop or at least a Chevy dealer that has a lot of experience with Corvettes. It's the exact same front end that is on the Corvette from that era. 30,000 miles is way to little for front end parts to be wearing out. They will have a lot more experience...
That's the one. Very well made. Your cable may be fine right now, mine was too, but when I had the tunnel plate off I noticed the plastic/rubber bushings that connect to the shifter and transmission were getting soft from age and exposure to heat from the exhaust system and were ultimately...
Absolutely! I just finished doing the exact same thing. You already have to drop the exhaust pipes and tunnel plate anyway and if you are at 92k miles it is just a matter of time before you loose connection with your transmission because of the grommets. The tunnel plate did make a difference...
Yes, replacing the thermostat really really works to fix this problem. Probably the simplest and cheapest repair you can do to your XLR! Good luck to you with the repair!
I'm glad to see yours made it to 188k miles before needing replacement. Mine have 80k on them now and the car still rides like new and there are no signs of leakage around the shocks so far.
Can you manually unlock the header latch?
I had my header cylinder fail and start leaking a few years ago. The dealer replaced the cylinder and the header as it was saturated with fluid.
Keep looking, you will eventually find one that fits. There are quite a few that come up on Craig's List in Texas alone. Higher mileage doesn't really scare me as you can see by the Cadillac's that I currently own. I have always been able to avoid one that was abused, but I buy mine to drive...
Joe, That looks like a pretty short list compared to the list I got when I bought mine at 40,000 miles, but I have not had any big problems in the last 30,000 miles. That is very low mileage for a 2006 and if the interior and exterior look like it had been cared for, I would jump on it if it is...
