    XLR Servicing

Thank your lucky stars they were honest with you. David Taylor/Sterling McCall kept my 06 for a year and I got it back in worse shape than I had left it.

    Variable Effort Steering rack

The car spent a year, yes a year, at David Taylor/Sterling McCall Cadillac in Houston. During that time I went through 3 different service managers, none of whom knew right from left, and a couple just plain liars. It took an email to the head dick to get any responses, and a couple of days...

If you've got a TECH II, then the best thing is to try to relearn the folding top. Sometimes that will solve the problem. I seem to think that someone, maybe me, posted the steps for doing a relearn on the TECH II. Do a search to see if you can find it.

Yes, turn on fogs. I replaced the fogs with led bulbs when I first got the car. I was concerned about my dlr's as they had already started to darken. I make it a habit of turning on the fogs when I start the car.

We are New XLR owners. Have a few questions

There are plenty of articles here about stereo/dvd/nav systems people have done to their cars. I did mine in 2016 with a Kenwood unit including b/u camera. I suggest doing a search and reading at your leisure. More info than you want to know. And sounds as if the headlight has lost it's...

    I need battery advice

When we first got our XLR, the factory battery was new, but for the life of me, wouldn't stay charged. If we went more than a week, it was a sure thing I had to charge it before going anywhere. Three months later after a lot of research I put an Odyssey battery in. Never ran down, even after a...

    Help on center consul.

Do a search for what you're wanting to do. Damn near impossible to do that as the whole metal part is cemented in. You'll ruin the metal trying to remove it. It's not just crimped on

    Help on center consul.

Start pulling up on one corner, then gently go around to each corner till it comes up. If you're wanting to take it off completely, you'll have to take shifter knob off first I think a #10 torx driver to take the set screw loose.

LED Replacement for DRL Turn Signals in Cadillac XLR - No Resistors - Replace or modify relay instead?

I simply twist the knob to turn on my LED fog lights. It's a habit now

car wont go into gear, shifter just floats back and forth from park to drive..and doesnt engage!!

You'll need a frame lift, center lift not so much. There's a large plate under the car running down the center line with 30 some odd screws holding it. It's a cover for the exhaust but also a body stiffener. That has to be removed to get at the shifter link under the console. Those bushings are...

car wont go into gear, shifter just floats back and forth from park to drive..and doesnt engage!!

Unless you take off the huge plate underneath the car, you can't tell if it's disconnected at the shifter Heat is bad in that area and sometimes those nylon bushings just can't take it anymore. A bushing kit from almost any parts store will get you back in business, but you have to remove that...

Problems with top cycling all the way through!

Any mechanic that has a TECH II tool more than likely relearn the top module to fix it. Probably an hour's worth of labor

    Top Re-Learn Malfunction.....Up A Creek?

In a lot of cases, the battery is the culprit.

Help! Has anyone ever bypassed the Bose amp in their aftermarket radio installs?

I have followed (mostly) the instructions found in the XLR Aftermarket Headunit Installation.pdf file I don't know what you followed and disregarded. If you had followed the pdf, you'd have a working aftermarket stereo. The dealer is not going to track/trace down anything NOT GM.

Help! Has anyone ever bypassed the Bose amp in their aftermarket radio installs?

If you haven't jumped those speaker wires as outlined in my post from 2016, it's highly unlikely you'll get any sound at all

Help! Has anyone ever bypassed the Bose amp in their aftermarket radio installs?

If I understand correctly: You didn't cut and splice in jumpers, you just installed jumpers to the wires?

    Auto window operation

You have to run the windows up, hold for 10 secs, run windows down and hold for 10 secs. WIthout you re-indexing the windows, they don't know how far to go up or go down

Yes, it's being totally remodeled at this time. And it got bought out by different people several years ago. But the food has remained pretty steady
