Help! Interior Passenger Door opening switch only works sometimes?

YIKES!!! Ok, I have the in/lb's torque wrench, trim removal tool and will procure the 28 bottle case of 5% Budweiser. (My reply was 2 Buds). I don't know which is pin 1 or 3, perhaps it is embossed on the switch and I should get continuity between them while pressing the switch. I do hear the...

    Hood wont stay up

Shock Clamp danger I would NEVER use a Shock Clamp. The set screw will damage the surface of the rod and tear out the seal. I cannot imagine any one even making this. I split a length of the new plastic tubing used for plumbing houses on a table saw (1/8" blade), chamfered the ends a bit and...

    Important! Battery Tender

For those of you who park your XLR's for the Winter Months, this may be of interest. If you already have a pricey Battery Tender, don't bother reading further. I use a 12VDC 3-500 ma (1/2 Amp or less) to maintain batteries of cars in storage. It worked for decades with previous Corvettes. I...

    Help! 2004 Window Sticker Reproduction

Build Sheet When I ordered the Build Sheet and Window sticker for my 2008 XLR in 2013, the Build Sheet came with masking tape under the clear laminate. I thought someone screwed up until I was advised that they came like that!

    Important! XLR Headlight Assemblies

XLR Lighting parts I have not heard back from my contact at GM in regard to headlight remanufacture. Perhaps it is time for a reminder. I replaced the 2 screw 'jacks' that stop the trunk lid from closing too far a few months ago. One lasted about 7 months. Crap rubber. I will get them...

Difficult to open door easy fix

Thanks for your input CCC. I don't know the voltage at the door switch. As you mentioned, high temp can cause Copper to darken. It also develops a natural dark patina with age. The other trace was bright and there was no sign of any form of corrosion on either one. The contacts from the...

Difficult to open door easy fix

Thanks for the clear instructions. One of the conductor rails on my '08 pad was a dark colour as if it had been overheated. I would suggest that if you are not alone when you do it, that you put some large obstruction in the way so no one can close the door. It may or may not open with that...

Window Tint - unsure what to do!

My XLR had tinting when I purchased it. It is the only thing I DON'T like. It is so dark I have to lower the windows to give the #1 driver sign or wave at someone. It obscures the auto dimming mirror and it is impossible to see out the rear window at night. I don't know the tint Percentage...

    2008 Caddy Hearse

I attended a funeral last week and took 3 photos of the headlights on the Hearse. It was a 2008 model according to manual but no Model. I think that if it was really necessary, these headlights could be adapted to an XLR. I have no further info on them and don't know if they are available. I...

Fuel Filler door When you are SITTING in the Drivers seat, your Left is the Left side of the car. The car in the photo has the fuel filter on the Left (correct) side. Perhaps you are looking at a photo I do not see. Time to wind your compass! Bakertech.

    Important! XLR Headlight Assemblies

Are the CHMSL now available 'knock offs' or are they made for GM under licence? I would think GM authorized items would be quality products.... hopefully. Accurate info and supporting photos would be helpful. Bakertech.

    Important! XLR Headlight Assemblies

XLR Lighting Hopefully the Centre High Mounted Stop Lights will also be reproduced to GM standards. North American Headlights must comply with DOT standards. Cut-off line, Shoulder lighting and other things no doubt. Euro standards differ I believe. Canadian & US part numbers and design...

    Important! XLR Headlight Assemblies

ALL: Last week I contacted a highly placed GM Executive and pleaded our case of Headlight Assemblies, CHMSL and other items. I received this info today in regard to Headlights. Although at present I don't need one, I certainly want to be able to get one. This is the response: Good Afternoon...

Are there any XLR shirts? Forum or other?

XLR T Shirts I saw some today at a Swap Meet. Black Shirt with side view of XLR in white. Beneath it in large print OCD Below it read Obsessive Cadillac Disorder. Cadillac script and XLR on the back. I never wear a shirt without a pocket so didn't purchase one. I will take a photo of them if I...

    Tow Hooks and Black Bag

I looked through the Index of the 4 Volume Service Manuals under 'H' and 'T' and there is no mention of Tow Hooks. Most Industrial Fastener places carry forged eye bolts. It would be helpful to know the Metric thread size and length from Centre of the Eye.

    Billet Oil Cap

David: Perhaps it will fit. I was looking at a similar one with a different underside. The O.D. can be no larger than 2-1/4". According to their compatibility chart they will NOT fit the XLR engines. Let me know if you get one and it fits!!! I like a little bling...
