    The Long Goodbye

Hi CC, Sorry my post is a bit late, but wanted to express my sincere appreciation for all of the help and knowledge you provided during my 6 great years of XLR ownership! Hope you enjoy your XTS! They are beautiful cars.

Sold my XLR- goodbye and a sincere thank you!! C7 vs XLR comparisons

You can set the XLR cruise to the closest possible distance....and it still allows at least 2-3 car lengths. Totally safe and it brakes a lot less. I have the A8 on my C7, so will have to try to see if it holds the same speed with the cruise on while down-shifting. Glad to hear you've had no...

There aren't many clips of the Corsa exhaust on the base XLR, but here's a pretty good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCnnF4RNR4k

Yep, black convertible top. I tried to order the dark blue convertible top, but the dealer flat out refused since they said that color combo would make re-sale impossible (what the heck?? especially since I put down a $10k deposit to order it...should have been able to get whatever I wanted)...

Hi oyealiz! You have excellent taste in cars......I also have an arctic white C7 non-Z51. Looks like you have the adrenaline red interior, I have kalahari ;-) Curious if you have noticed any other differences beyond the ones I listed?

Sold my XLR- goodbye and a sincere thank you!! C7 vs XLR comparisons

The XLR has a much more laid-back, grand touring vibe. Just cruising along, everything about the C7 feels race-track ready. In several regards (body rigidity/stiffness, steering response, seating position, shocks, tightness of seat bolstering), it actually feels more like my 2003 Honda S2000...

Sold my XLR- goodbye and a sincere thank you!! C7 vs XLR comparisons

Congrats! The XTS is super luxurious car! Half price is bargain for such a new model, especially with the warranty. Is there an XTS forum similar to the XLR forum?

Sold my XLR- goodbye and a sincere thank you!! C7 vs XLR comparisons

Figured this might help for anyone wondering how the 2 compare. And yes, they can take themselves a bit too seriously sometime! We have 3 Vette clubs in San Diego, and apparently they don't get along with each other or something silly like that :( Plus, something else- EVERYONE, I mean...

Sold my XLR- goodbye and a sincere thank you!! C7 vs XLR comparisons

I test-drove the 7 speed manual, but it's just 1 gear too many (easy to get lost in the pattern) and the skip-shift to get better fuel efficiency is annoying. However, the 8 speed automatic is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT- even better than the Porsche PDK I test-drove, so that's what I bought. It has...

Sold my XLR- goodbye and a sincere thank you!! C7 vs XLR comparisons

Bummer to hear the CTS paint isn't that great. What's interesting is that I went to 4 dealerships- and only 1 would let me test-drive the Vette before buying. Really stupid policy. I then had to wait 13 weeks for my car to arrive after I ordered it- a true exercise in patience. The Infrared...

Sold my XLR- goodbye and a sincere thank you!! C7 vs XLR comparisons

Hi All, After 6 years of owning my gorgeous 2005 XLR, I'm a bit sad to say that it has now moved onto a new home. One of my friends works for GM, and I was able to purchase a 2015 Corvette Stingray convertible with the employee pricing- it was an offer to good to refuse. I listed my car on...

    Important! Brakes gone wild!!

I just realized that my steering wheel hasn't been lifting up out of the way when I turn the car off and exit for the past few months. Probably a good thing, because that might cause extra wear on the parts. Might be wise for folks with 2004-2008 to disable this feature? Disappointed that GM...

    Important! Brakes gone wild!!

Wow- thanks for sharing your on-going story. Sounds like you have done everything possible. I was told I'd have to replace the steering position sensor if the comb didn't fix my issue. Luckily I haven't seen any message pop-up in the DIC or have any recent issues driving. But like you warned-...

    Important! Brakes gone wild!!

Hi All, This exact same thing happened to me a few days ago. ALL of the brakes locked up. Lost control of steering. Stabilitrak failure and other warnings in DIC. Luckily I was only going 5mph and no cars around me. Here's the solution: Service Stabilitrak TSB #06-02-35-002B Install the clip...

    yikes---- automatic transmission slipping?

Hi All----good news.....changed the transmission fluid, and that completely fixed the problem! I know the manual says it's good until 100k, but probably a good idea to change earlier than that- like at 80k. -Mark

    I hope it's the shifter cable since that's only a $60 part!

    yikes---- automatic transmission slipping?

Hi all, When pulling out of my garage in reverse, I come to a complete stop, put it in drive, and now the car is revving a bit before it moves forward. Today it seemed much worse than it has the last few days- it revved for 2 seconds (like the car was in neutral) and didn't move forward, I put...

    Air filters

I had the same problem when I installed those air-filters. The oil from the filters kept making the check engine light come on. Got tired of that, so went back to regular paper filters. You'll need to buy mass air flow cleaner (can purchase at PepBoys for $4).
