Those cylinders mount almost horizontally and with the roof up, and trunk open, obviously, they look half-compressed, so I don’t dare try to remove them without knowing the consequences. They seem to assist the main lift hydraulic cylinders in opening and closing the roof.
Gas struts
No, Bill. Just climb into the trunk head first way in under the rear window. At the hanging cloth protecting the horizontal hydraulic cylinder, on each side, is a gas strut, NO hydraulic lines going to them. I know where the rear hydraulic lift cylinders are, they’re mounted up...
So, how many gas cylinders are there? I count 4, 2 behind each taillight, and what looks like 2 more way in the front of the trunk. The gmpartsdirect parts diagrams don’t show all 4, so,I don’t know if they’re all the same part number. And yes, I know the difference between the hydraulic...
Has anyone figured out how to remove and replace the rear cylinders that open the top! They’re held by a bracket with 4 torx screws, the topmost rear screw seemingly impossible to get to
Don’t know if it’s Sport or touring—came on car up from FL. Believe me, I didn’t want to take it off the car—-I don’t feather the throttle—-loved the sound, but car around town heavily populated, and I have a distinctive letter vanity license plate, and I don’t think there are 10 of these in all...
I have a complete Corsa exhaust system I took off my 2004 XLR. Has about 6000 miles on it, it’ll never rust out —all stainless steel. Put original back on, neighbors complaining about noise—-close community. PITAS!! Original cost about $2000, easy on/off, about 2 hours labor. Pain to ship...
Thanks, not too worried about the defroster—-this car will never see rain or snow. How did you peel it off, with another person on the other side ? Did you use a heat gun? Getting down to the lower corners is almost impossible with the headrests in place, and seats don’t fold down out of the...
Need advice as to how to remove rear window tint. Used steamer on sides ok, but can’t get to rear window. Tried with top halfway down, but can’t reach bottom half, and top slowly dropping. So how do I do this? Engine running or not, valve at pump turned or not? 2 man job? Another poster said use...
Holding trunk open
Speaking about holding the trunk open ,how do I remove film from the back window applied by previous Florida owner? Not permitted in my state so I have to remove it before annual inspection sticker or get stopped by over-zealous trooper. Can’t seem to get top into a position...
