I just sold my '06 XLR-V to a local buyer who wanted it bone stock so I removed the E3 plugs, K&N filters (2), Jet Performance MAF, and MILD2WILD exhaust setup (while he watched). I thought I'd offer it all here before I EBay it. $225 takes it all with (US) shipping included. Original invoices...
Ditto on over oiling causing the issues with the MAF sensors. However, I did pick up almost 10 HP on my V with the K&Ns. Also, there is an aerosol product specifically made for cleaning MAF sensors (CRC #05110).
Don't over oil!!!
Just be sure that they are not over oiled. Too much oil can contaminate the Mass airflow (MAF) sensor . Usually they are fine out of the box. The problem arises when cleaning and re-oiling them. Only a very light amount of oil should be applied as this is one place where more...
Didn't notice any Mileage increase but I just did a couple of dyno pulls with a box stock '06 XLR-V. Run 1 was completely stock... 360.49 HP 355.53 torque Run 3 is with the K&Ns installed 369.36 HP 365.16 torque. Increase of 8.87 RWHP and 9.63 ft/lbs Torque.

Cubby, Thanks but I don't think that a faulty O2 sensor/connection would effect only the #2 cyl??????
Bruce, Thanks as well. The miss is intermittent, cold or hot but seems more apparent/noticable when warm at idle in gear. It feels and sounds like ignition as there is a complete momentary...
Problem (I mean Condition) Resolved
I finally replaced the MAF sensor with a JET Performance piece and I still had the misfire. Pulled codes today and got a "P0800" Engine misfire (which is pretty generic....looked further and found 3750 events for Cyl 2. New coil on order... I'll post the...
Hey Bruce, long time no talk. Thanks for the TSB, the cleaning cleared up 99% of the miss. The Filters are about a thousand miles old and went in right out of the boxes with the factory oiling (more like a mist), I blotted the engine side of the elements with a paper towel to see if it would...
Cubby,
A $7.15 can of CRC MAF sensor cleaner and and 12 miles later it appears to be cured. It only hiccupped once (maybe learning the new values from the clean sensor) but this is a huge Improvement as it had been gradually been getting worse. THANKS!
Bill
Cubby thanks for the reply. Sorry I wasn't more specific so here goes. I'm fully warmed up and come to a stop at a traffic light. I'm in automatic mode, selector in Drive, foot on brake waiting for the light to change. and the engine hiccups for less than a second. The engine does not stall...
Has anyone experienced momentary ignition cut-off while at a stop in gear ('06 V with K&N and E3s)? It happens very intermittently and it is momentary as if I were cutting the the ignition off and on with a switch. No lights and the tach does not drop when it happens. Thanks in advance for your...
Klapp,
There is no question that the "high" idle condition is contributing to the poor mileage. Neither dealer was able to nail down a cause so they both determined it was "normal" which it obviously is not. That said, after speaking to a tech at D3, I've located a shop here that has experience...
Thanks to all!
XLRR3838: Thanks anyway but I think we're talking apples and oranges here.
Lola's Mom: Although your numbers closely mirror mine and I'm not real happy with them, I'm THRILLED to know that they are "normal". I wasn't attracted to an XLR-V for gas mileasge.
On my initial ride...
Just installed E3 spark plugs and started to look closely at my Average MPG.... Looks like I'm between 10.8 and 12.1 depending on the amount of local highway driving. Around town its right around 11. Dont notice any significant change since I swapped the plugs (three tanks of gas) if anything it...
KLAP It occurs in all modes...."Normal" (in drive, automatic mode) "Performance" (you shift it, stiff shocks) and even if I bump it into Neutral at 40 MPH and coast to a stop. Until it sees a "0" speed signal it will not always return to curb idle. I'm meeting with another '06 V next week for a...
