You may want to try it yourself if you're moderately handy. Just jack up the car and take off the driver's side rear wheel - the ground (to the frame) is just behind it, towards the rear of the car. You can't miss it. Pull the ground strap off, clean everything, then reassemble. It might...
There is no way to manually release the gearshift solenoid without removing the shift cover trim. GM *MIGHT* have done something to correct this on later model year XLRs, but I'm not sure.
This makes flatbedding the car a nuisance, since you have to pull everything off the console before...
After much thought on this issue, I decided to look for the ground connection on the rear of the car. I found it - it is on the frame behind the drivers side rear tire toward the rear of the vehicle. I pulled the tire off and removed/cleaned/replaced the ground connector, and the gas gauge...
I love my weekend wife! I'll volunteer to be your friends weekend husband IF she doesn't have kids who are about to get married!
I'm so glad that you and DD are comig! It will be great to see you again - you were both missed!
Thats a pretty good price on the lower grill. I'd jump on it if I didn't already have a couple of spares squirreled away.
I used one of my spares this winter, so I am down 1........
EDIT: I checked - I paid about $120 each. It's not such a great price.
Wow! I'm reallly sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad to hear you're okay!
I wouldn't be too surprised if the mirror wires tangling together shorted something out. The mirror, seat, and telescopic steering wheel are tied together somewhere to reset to the specified driver settings...
I was able to get a set of XLR-V mufflers on eBay for a cheap price (they fit the base model perfectly and installed very quickly!). I added a mild-to-wild setup so I could control the exhaust butterfly valves to go from factory quiet to factory loud. I'm very happy with my setup!!
I certainly wouldn't have driven 50 additional miles on a non run flat! It wasn't a blowout, so I would have been able to safely get to the side of the road to call for service. There wouldn't have been any collateral damage to the car.
It was nice to have the ability to drive somewhere...
That is great advice! Thankfully, I noticed it immediately and set the trip odometer so I'd have an idea as to how far I could go and didn't have any issues. I'd already had enough trouble on the trip. One of my run flats got a VERY big hole in it. I now know that they really can go about 50...
I think I know the answer to this, but....
My fuel gauge has been stuck at 2/3 full for the last 400 miles. Oddly, there is no DTC currently set.
I plan on looking at the fuel sending unit readouts closely to figure out if (or which) tank has a faulty unit (if that is indeed the problem)...
I'm glad to hear that you're life is getting back to "normal" - maybe so much so that you don't have much to report on your health and recovery. I'm sure it's been a long, hard year. We were all hoping for this day and we all knew you'd make it! :)
