2004 Cooling Fan Not coming on

Is it overheating, what is the temp reading on the gauge, maybe it's not hot enough to need the fan. If you turn on the AC does the fan come on, that will usually cause the fan to come on or increase speed. I had that problem once and it was a loose connection at the fan, easy fix.

It's not overheating. I will try turning on the A/C to see if that triggers the fan. The fan does work, I did unplug it and apply 12 volts directly and it did run. Thanks for the reply.

All the controls for the fan on a 2004 are built into the motor. 05-09 uses external control module. They do not interchange. You can vet an 05-09 to work with a good bit of time and effort. 04 motors are only available used and expensive. Turning the ac on should trigger the motor. If it runs with power butnot by temp or ac you will need one.

I have an '05 and I when I first got it I was worried that the fan didn't work on my car either. The temp gauge reached just above 220 degrees several times while driving it and that bothered me. But according to the Service Manual the fan doesn't start to turn on until the temp reaches ~200 degrees unless the AC is on. Yikes! This is for emissions reasons. I was still concerned so I jacked up the front of the car, propped my phone under the car pointed at the fan, and let the car idle. When I turned the AC on the fan ran and I captured it on video. Then I let the car idle until the temp got above 200 with the AC off and again the fan started to operate and I captured it on video.

So if the car isn't overheating I suspect the fan is working fine. But the cars can run hot. I don't like it but there isn't much I can do about it. Unless the car overheats or you get a warning on the Dot Matrix Display I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thats why its very important to keep the coolant topped off and always repair leaks. To me the car runs hotter than id like because there is not enought air flow thru the radiator . my two row rad dropped the temps from 205 down to 195. Still plenty hot to run clean yet not hot enough to damage heads and block

Thanks for the input RubyRod, that is exactly what my car is doing. I will have to check it again with the A/C running to verify that the fan is running. Thanks again for all the input guys.
