A big screen upgrade for the XLR?

Help!!! New XLR 14.3" Screen Display Mod

Here is a new product trying to come to market for the XLR. Looks to resolve all issues and add future capabilities to the XLR. We need 80 people to get on board to make this happen. Yes it is not cheap but it is a worthwhile investment to the XLR. I have one on order but it will not happen unless we get enough people to sign up and purchase.

It is available for the Corvette C5 and C6 but it would be nice to get this for us XLR guys too.
It will be on display at SEMA this week in Las Vegas.

I bought a 18$ screen magnifier for my kenwood system. Its now bigger than this one and my hvac controls have never given me any problems. And i cannot even figure out what kind of audio system hes including . i doubt it could be any better than what ive got. And im way lower than 2500$ i think hes asking.
Interesting that mercedes and nissan plus others are doing away with swiping controls like hes selling. They say people want to feel a knob in their hand and have control of adjustments. I still like that on the 1960s cars.

#1. Glad you setup works for you and you should probably stick with it.
#2. Some people are having issues with their hvac. Mine is not a problem but when it does become one, most likely the parts will not be easy to get.
#3. He is not changing the audio system. Whatever is in your car is what is used.

I watched the videos and liked what I saw. Hopefully you did or will watch them. I am interested in the new product because the nav system is out of date, no blue tooth. Limited parts and other things. Most of all there would be no modifications to make this work. You will lose the cd changer but I don't have any cds. USB capabilities can be a replacement for that.

Good luck with what you have going for you. Hope you don't run into any issues later on.

theres 300 hvac control units For sale because no one needs them they rarely fail so there will be more of them than cars needing them.. So this does not even have a radio? My unit has front and rear cameras and links both with my phone and a 40$ storage unit for all my music i keep in the coin changer area blue tooth, plus my garmin links to my screen and has all the gps updates current. So i guess for people wanting a gadget and money to blow there may be 80 buyers. If the guy does not have enough money to put it out there then to me thats a red flag. Hes ben pushing this for what three years now? Shame he did not make a top module. Thats something we all may need and thats about the only part fairly hard to find.Every other part on the car is pretty well covered by used (plenty of parts) or rebuilt. does not even include a tuner? Oh me, i watched for 30 seconds and knew i had no interest. Hope it works for you.

Oh i see you just joined to push this thing.

No. I actually have been a member for about 8 years but something happened with my account (thebluemax) and I had to create a new one. I am not pushing this but would like to see if those of us who want it can get it. Did not see anything on it in this forum except for this thread.

Just curious. What is your unit and how much was it? Did you have to do any mods to the car to make it work.

My son installed . no modifcations just getting the correct kit so it fits perfectly. and retains the matching wood trim. And keeping the factory amp so the cruise works. Ill look at the model number
Hes had posting all over the xlr forums and facebook pushing his video for several years.

Looks like it may not happen unless a lot of XLR folks get on board very quickly. Latest update.

Latest update. Need 35 more to get to 80 people needed. Only 1 week left or it will not go to production. The price was lowered by $200 to try and get to that magic number of 80. They also have financing so you don't need to come up with the whole amount. I have no association with Damian what so ever. I would like to get one of these units to upgrade my XLR.

Latest video with the details

I think this sounds really interesting! If I had a car, I'd join right in. But just in case I never do get one, I guess I better not make the investment.

Android 13 is waay out of date. Android 16 is current.
Not much info on what is behind it, what kind of satnav, data sources and updates. Or did I miss something?

I'm not in a position to comment over much on this product and you are welcome to disagree a lot with me.

I'm not sure what this is, at a guess an Android tablet a few years old (being Android 13). It is going to need a replacement for the HVAC controller, so some hardware. If being done well, a decent power control, instant start/stop command. The satnav and music will be existing apps. A GPS antenna might be needed (to improve reception), This suggests a USB hub, to accept the GPS, a music interface, the HVAC interface and supply some extra USB ports. The hardware for the whole lot is what $500 for the tablet, allow another $100 for the remaining hardware and then something for the bespoke software. None of this seems over difficult. Then there is the surround.

I have looked at prices for a Rasberry Pi (Linux) and at allow $100 for the Pi and $100 for a big touch 14" display (though not the resolution of a decent tablet, at 1,920x1,200), that comes with the USB hub (and ethernet RJ45) and an excellent development environment. The Pi is also very good at controlling devices with readily available controller cards. Will need the GPS antenna and to handle the music, (though that is available on a 3.5mm socket too in the above). Being much smaller, the HVAC controls remain unaltered and it wouldn't be too difficult to use the existing double DIN space. Wifi is a given (as it is for the tablet).

I'm not over convinced.

Of course, there is a world of difference between me speculating a bit and somebody who is prepared to go out there and make one.

Just curious if you watched any of the videos on this at knightdrivetv? The videos show from start until now which may go to production if we can get the support for it. He has sold units for the Corvette C5 and C6 which has some of the tech as the XLR.

Umm, I did watch some. Whether or not I watched the best ones, maybe there are more informative ones? I don't have time to spend watching lots of videos with not much information density.
