My XLR/V(s)
'05 XLR Xenon Blue
As you know, I just completed a frond end rebuild on my Xenon Blue '05. Having never driven an XLR before, I chose to replace the factory air boxes (slightly damaged) with a Volant. Now having driven her a few days, I keep getting trouble codes stating low voltage on my MAS. Has anyone else experienced that code and rough starts when cold? Maybe I just need a new MAS and has nothing to do with the Volant. Thought?

...ok...never mind. I found my issue. I raised my hood and could hear a vacuum/sucking coming from my intake hose. Sure enough, the corrugated rubber hose was mushed down below and allowing air to bypass the MAS giving incorrect signals...and bypassing my airfilters :pat:. Solved, fixed, and running like a champ.

Actually I have had some issues with my Volant, initially it was not secured correctly too as yours was.

Initially I had added a K&N air filter and the Corsa exhaust: that seemed to wake the car up nice and sounds wicked to me. Then I figured I should help it breathe in as well as it breathed out - so I added the Volant. I drove with it on for a few months or so. I kept getting the 'engine light' coming on, it was driving us crazy. Every time it was to do with the MAS readings. Could not figure out what the problem was.

My hubby kept checking that it was the same code then clearing the code for me. He finally took the Volant off and put back the stock air cleaner box with the K&N: but didn't say anything to me that he had done that. I drove it a couple of times down to town before he asked me how it was running. I said great: the engine light had not come on etc and wondered how he 'fixed it'.... The reality is that the Volant truly did not make much difference except you could hear it sucking when you stomped on it; although I am sure if it was put on the dyno there would be a minor difference. So now I have no Volant and no Check Engine light bugging me. :D The car performs great for me and I am happy without the annoyance.

I know there are others on the forum that have not had this trouble and there should be an answer to what my car's problem was. What ever....

I will write them down if/when it does it again...

Same issue...sort of

I had the same codes after installing the Volant CAI and Corsa Kit. It was traced back to the vacuum lines in the stock exhaust that were incorrectly capped by the installer. It cured my CEL but I still get a strange and random code that renders my "StibiliTrac" inoperative for a brief intervals. I don't think it's related to the CAI/Exhaust install, but the symptoms began at about the same time.

Well, I get the same thing still. P0102 which is the Mass Air Flow sensor and it is on cold starts, runs rough, and it comes up and tells me to Service Traction Control System. I can turn it off and restart it a couple times and let it idle and it will smooth out and go away. I can clear the codes through my DashCommand and I will be fine again for the rest of the day. I am totally baffled, but once I figure it out, I will report back. :dunno:

I too got the stabilitrac warning when the Volant was on the car but when I removed the Volant all that BS went away.

Otherwise my car has been flawless un a few weeks back: My ABS light is now on so I guess I have a sensor out etc, need to take it to the dealer...:(

Reporting back on the Volant and MAS issue. It was totally a bad MAS. I replaced it last weekend with an OEM unit and have not seen the errors or rough running since. All error codes are gone and she is running like a raped ape...now if only the bazaar braking/stabilitrack issue was consistent enough so I could figure that one out.

Well now, that's a new one..... :thumbsup

Sandy, the next time you're in FL, I suggest you make a loop over to TX and back. Take along a notebook; you'll hear enough of this kind of sayings to fill it. I worked with a Texan who had a knack for coming up with these, and I never (!) once heard him repeat himself. I'd laugh so hard my sides ached. Sure wish now that I had carried a notebook of my own. :pat:
