I purchased a 2005 xlr with 23k miles from a Cadillac dealer. I bought the gmpp "bumper to bumper warranty", as my xlr was a certified vehicle for only one more month.

I assume now that many components aren't really part of this warranty now, as I am told the issue of a broken bezzle on driver;s seat isn't covered. I can live with that issue.

My problem is now , the top has the screw penetrating the paint issue I see was once a service bulletin. Does anyone think I can still get this fixed for free, either as a bulletin or a GMPP issue? Any advice before I battle the dealer ???

I want the paint damage resolved. Do you think it should be covered?

This is a common problem and is covered under your GMPP Major Guard warranty. At the present time I am dealing with the same issue. I had a problem with my top and the dealer "readjusted" the top and this is when I noticed the damage. I make it a habit to video tape my car every time it goes in for service, and I make them aware that I have done so. The service manager had me go out and get three quotes from body shops for repair cost which ranged from $435.00 - $550.00. Right now I am just awaiting a decision on which shop the work will be done at.

I come to find that every dealer is different in regards to the way they handle "warranty" work or damage done to "warranty" work. Best advice I can give is....keep your head, be civil but direct, document the issue and stay on top of it. Remember you get more with honey than you do with vinager and one mans ceiling is another mans floor....don't be afraid to contact a regional manager.
