Hydraulic Line Leak

I've only owned my 2008 for a few months and a couple weeks ago one of the hydraulic lines started leaking on the passenger side while I was closing the top. Took it to the stealership and was told the line cracked. They of course had to order parts so it's not actually getting fixed until next week. Not a cheap repair. I was hoping they could replace just the section that was cracked but apparently it's an entire kit so it ended up being about $250 for parts and about $650 for labor. They weren't able to tell if the line just cracked or if it got pinched. My question is if anyone else has experienced this and do you know if it was because the line got punched. I don't want the same thing to happen to the new line.

Without a picture showing the location of the damaged hydraulic line, it would be pure speculation to determine what caused it to fail. Properly routed hydraulic lines shouldn't be subject to deformation (pinching) within the bend points. This isn't common, but several owners have had similar problems such as yours. Be glad it didn't fail over the headliner!

I have the same leak on my 2009 more of a weep than a leak, I have left the top down ever since. My thought is no pressure no leak, I wanted to enjoy the nice weather. I am planing the call to the dealer, but have been avoiding it. Now I know what to expect.....Good luck...Let me know if there are any surprises..
