My XLR/V(s)
2006 XLR-V Infrared/Ebony
I am looking to replace my 06 XLR with the same color XLR V. I can't find the same in excellent shape with Ebony interior. I found several with other interior colors so I am considering purchasing a V and swapping my base Ebony interior into the replacement V. I want to be certain this is possible and won't have trouble with breaking dash and console parts to exchange woodgrain parts or compatible electrical components etc. I am aware I am giving up the suede from the V. I don't have a shop manual. I have a V ready to purchase but don't want to get it unless I can do the swap easily.

You may want to refer to the thread 2009 XLRV for sale Black Cherry (or how ever it is titled) for some answers on interiors. I would also PM Cubby and ask him: super helpful guy even though he picks on Canadians........LOL!

That seems like a hard and potentially costly way to get there. Have you looked at custom interior shops, or just buying new seat covers and foam direct from Cadillac?

I have the car with Ebony (base) interior. I want to remove it and install in an XLR-V I may purchase with tan interior so potentially the cost is my labor only. I will reinstall the tan interior in the base car I am selling. Buying new parts would be too costly to replace the interior.

I pulled my seats and door panels two winters ago and had a two tone Ebony/Shale interior done, but left everything else intact; aside from some other parts I purchased from gmpartsdirect.com I wouldn't even consider trying to accomplish what you are, as the interiors on a base and V aren't the same. You could also run into problems just replacing out the dash unit, i.e. forgetting to hook something up!

Like Bruce (b pappy) stated, sounds like a lot of work and potential headaches along with some possible breakage to items being taken out. I'd be inclined to search autotrader or cars.com for the exact vehicle I'm looking for. Just my opinion, good luck with your rebuild.
