My ' 06 XLR (non V, #00773 w/27,000 mi) failed Maryland State inspection because the light for the gears did not light up. I removed the console and found the connector was disconnected. Upon reconnecting it, the only lights that came on were when the shifter was in the Manual mode. No other indications of why PRND illumination it does not work.
Suggestions please? Thanks in advance, Marc

Glad i dont live in maryland. Ive never even looked at the console lights. you just put it in gear and go. Does the head up not show you the gear?

Weird state inspection law... never heard of that one,,,,,seems of little need.

As long as the headlights//tail lights//dash lights// and rear license plate light all work,,,, I don't see the need

UPDATE:
In an attempt to test the circuits from the connector to see if power was getting to the circuit board, I took off the cover again. My probes were too small so that was aborted.
THEN, when everything was put back together the shifter would not come out of PARK! Took everything apart again and nothing was jamming it and it still would not shift out of PARK.
Only when I moved the brass rod forward, does did it effortsl;y come out of PARK.
Is the the brake-interlock switch??
