My XLR/V(s)
2008 Crystal Red XLR-V
I purchased my XLR-V this past fall - it had slightly under 34,000 miles. When I returned to my home state ( WI ) I registered it and paid all the required fee's. It was during this procedure at the DMV that the clerk asked me the mileage? At the time I didn't know the exact mileage ( and after standing in line for 45 min.) the clerk asked approx. - it was at this time I guessed ( ?) 34,000. No big deal ?? I offered to return to my car a get the true mileage - not necessary was her reply .She simply entered NAM. ( not actual miles ) . Enter the fact now after being informed on " Car Fax " that my car has a BRANDED TITLE ?????
I'm being told to correct this would take hour.

My present plans don't call for selling it - plus I have all the documentation to prove what the XLR-V actually has.
Hind sight being 20/20 I would opt to return to my car.

Has anybody else ever experienced this ?

You need to get it corrected. It will reduce the value of your V by 30%+ if you don't.

CARFAX was great to work with,,,

"Has anybody else ever experienced this ?"[ /B]

Worse,,,,a VIN # on my title ,,,, the last digit was one number off, and that other car had multiple warranty claims and higher mileage on it......and that car had my VIN # on their title and vice-versa.

Long, long story short,,,,, CARFAX girls were very helpful and did nearly all the work to correct the problem. AUTOCHECK reporting company was a pain in the azz to correct the problem, and made me do all of the work to get the titles straightened out.

Good luck getting the situation changed

How did you contact the girls at CARFAX ? I contacted the Wisc. DMV and was told that they could not change the title "Branded" according to the DMV rep. once its branded its against federal law, and they can't change it to the real mileage ???

What is a BRANDED TITLE?

I contacted the CARFAX customer service department,,,,explained the problem about the incorrect VIN# situation,,and they went to work checking out/contacting Texas dealers to verify the problem. My car's odometer had the correct mileage showing, and that mileage is stored in it's computer along with the car's VIN#. You might want to contact CARFAX and straighten the matter out now.
