2007 platinum liquid amethyst
I am planning on buying a 2007 platinum edition with liquid amethyst. There are patterns showing thru the paint when you look at the hood from certain angles up fairly close. It looks like the under hood support metal(hidden by insulation) heating up and causing ghosting on those supports onto the paint. Has anyone heard of this? Is this a factory defect? Is there a fix for it? Thanks for any help you might have. Dan

Never heard of this before. I wouldn't think the supports would show through the insulation, fiberglass, etc... has to be a problem with the paint application. Could it be that the hood has been repainted at some time in the past and the metallic is not even? It would be tough to get a picture showing the problem, but that would help.

Maybe a detailer got things too hot and the bracing drew some heat away?

Maybe check all the edges to see if it was ever repainted. They could of used cheap stuff. Like stated before it could have been buffed by someone who shouldn't have. Only thing I've noticed is on cool nights the roof and hood will show the lines of the supports with the condensation but not in the actual paint. Carfax it

Dan,

I absolutely LOVE your choice of the first version Platinum that is effected in the 07 Platinum addition. I really like your choice its just awesome! This version comes up for sale on occasion and although a bit rare it is not as impossible to locate as some other models (i.e. 09 Black Cherry XLR-Vs) Unless your price is too good to pass up; if this condition is a defective repaint I suggest you pass and pick up the next awesome 07 Platinum. My thought for as little as its worth...

Steve
