I have been reading through the threads about the problem associated with not being able to shift out of park. I have already had the experience of breaking down and being towed , but not by this issue.... trying to do what I can to be proactive as one never knows when that issue will happen.. .I read the thoughts and some of the solutions, but as a not very mechanical guy, I feel it is something that I would not be able to do..
Since there is not a button to release it,..I had my Mechanic disengage the shift to park...He did it in such a way as it can go back as it was originally without a problem..
Start my baby with my foot on the brake anyway..
Just putting this out there to get some thoughts about what I had done from you knowledgeable enthusiasts...
