Help! Top& trunk trouble

For a while now my trunk has worked sporadically. When it did fail to either open or close it seemed that by either putting the top up or down would reset the trunk so that it would work perfectly for a week or two. A Cadillac service department warned me that the cargo shield could vibrate loose so I secured it in place with tape to eliminate that as a cause. Today the trunk works fine on its own but the top will not go up. So even though it is nice top down weather I need to have it go up too. I called another Cadillac service department and the manager told me they do employ a mech. with XLR top experience. Anything you all could share on this?

Sounds like possibly It may need a relearned done, My understanding is you need a tech ll tool reader in order to do that yourself. My top was having issues with the trunk not closing after the top cycled up or down, they did a relearn on it and that seemed to fix it. I used to have to release the top button and then re-press for the trunk to finish the closing cycle, that was before the relearn was done. But your is not acting the same so it could be something else!
