Was doing some searching around for some mod parts and came across a 6L80E in the crate. It's a great price and was wondering is it possible to reprogram the ECM for the conversion or is it not even worth my time. Theirs nothing wrong with mine but the six should give some better performance and mileage?

If you havent found your answer yet, I would try calling or messegaing d3 cadillac. Add them on facebook too for some cool pictures and builds in progress. I havent bought anything from d3, imo they're kinda overpriced, but their workmanship is beautiful. But again, I do ask them about technical info on the XLR, and they've steered me in the right direction every time.

Yes d3 definitely has the market cornered. They have great design and I'm sure plenty of experience. Unfortunately I live on the other side of the country and they are WAY to rich for my blood. If I every change or even drop the trans. I think I'll hold out and do a complete motor/trans. swap. I thought the six speed has paddle shifting? Even so if I do anything it has to be seamless and as of now I don't see it happening? Are the computers able to b reprogrammed for engine mods? I personally think turbo's are the way to go fast and b efficient. Drop the compression ratio throw some turbo's on and hold on! Not that easy though. Little time she's new I'm happy now.
