I replaced one of those cradles on a customers XLR. They are made of aluminum and require the removal of the front bumper cover. Make sure they replace it, not repair. And while the body shop has everything apart get some LED turn signal and running light bulbs for your headlights and ask them...
Any good bodyshop can do this job. It would probably cost the same or less to add vents to your stock hood as buying a complete new hood and having it painted to match.
If the filter door is behind the battery just remove the battery and pop the door off and pull out the filter. They sell the filters at any auto parts store. Most likely yours is original and should be changed.
The 2009 I have has the Bridgestone drive guards on it also, they were on the car when I bought it last year. I agree that the ride quality is very good on them for a run flat. I still would have no problem running a regular tire on my XLR. I have been driving since 1985, many miles in over 30...
I read this thread the other day and it made me look at every Cadillac's third brake light when I was driving around. I did not see one that had an issue. I was at a stoplight behind a 1998 STS and its LED third brakelight was still fully working.
