Show Us Your XLR

Both of these were low bids that won two excellent cars.

I was at Mecum here outside of Chicago recently in 2017
and saw a 2004 get 25K as a Featured Car.

That was the same as the one with only 15K miles.

When watching the Mecum auction, I noticed they announced
it as "Cadillac's Top the Line". They have it extra time. More
than most cars. They paid extra for this and it seemed to
pay off in some ways. This makes a difference.

After seeing the two red cars, I decided to pay less attention
to the value. Both were bargains. I paid a premium for my
XLR and it was worth every penny. I didn't bargain hunt
I found what I thought was one the very best non-V XLR.

I will just keep mine up to the finest levels and will not sell it
or give it away easily. As time passes condition will play a big
role. XLR owners have a massive advantage over many other
makes as they will not rust away. The use of aluminum,
composites and other materials will pay off.

The paint is very hard and high quality. Just spray them often
with Lucas spray wax with microfiber towels in-between detailing.
Do this to the headlights and tail lights as well. It keeps them
soft, new and they will never fade.

The whole car design of the XLR was very thought out, needs
no introduction and stands apart.

Lot 1598 never made it to the auction block. I wonder what happened??:dunno:

Possibly pulled out of auction,,,,or some buyer made them an 'offer they couldn't refuse' before its scheduled time to run across the stage?

That happens,,,,friend of mine 'pulled out' his car at the last minute due to B-J wanting more $$ to go across stage in prime time on Sunday.

That makes sense. I have another collector car that for sure I would lose
auctioning it off because of the huge amounts of time and money into it.

To me it is priceless. I don't currently and don't expect to need the money
to sell it off.

After being at Mecum late 2017, here outside of Chicago, I realized
there are lights that make the cars shiny on TV. Up close many
look different. Last minute buffs at high speed (not proper care),
last minute touch-ups. Some people giving away all their hard
work time and money on restorations.

I realized to view a car like a commodity is not the pressure I want.

My other collector, I would pay 1K - 1.5K to run it through capture it
on tape at a high reserve just so it doesn't sell and I would celebrate
to the crowd that it returns to me.

Also, sell it to someone who you know will take care of it as well
as you do. Otherwise, it like a stock.

Steve O,

Is this the V that I've driven past several times on MadDill AFB. ELWOOD is wintering in the RV Park.

Fixing problems

Yes, you did steal it: good for you! :beerchug:

Considering your bargain I would spend the coin and consult the nearest Cadillac dealer who has a Mechanic with XLR knowledge..... which is hard to find. None the less all the dealers have access to the files on adjusting and repairing issues like your top problems. Likely the adjustments needed to make the top seat into place may also resolve your warning light issue. You have the same wheels as I do, sorry, mine are just fine but the chrome plating today is not the same quality it was years back. We (my hubby & I are both motor heads) have had issues on other chrome wheels in the past. Perhaps if you search the internet forums you will find a solution to stop the peeling. I am thinking if you carefully snap off the chrome that is sticking up then use a clear epoxy glue along the edge of the missing chrome you may be able to stop that peeling: but maybe someone online has some answers. Good luck with your issues and congratulations on your find!

BTW: nice bike collection, personally I own a couple of Road Kings, one in Ontario and another at our winter place in Florida. Loved Arkansas: went to Bikes, Blues n BBQ's last year- first trip to Arkansas! I wanted to come down again this year but could not: some of the best riding I have enjoyed ever in that area: amazing roads & scenery
Thank you, so far ive been able to resolve all issues myself with only the help of the members on this site. Top now works like it shoud,no more check engine light, caused by fuel gage not working properly,cd changer fixed and now working on getting drivers seat out, wiring harness got caught in seat tract and torne into making it really difficut to remove but i think i have found a way to remove it even though im nt abe at access rear bolts. Bout only problem left is replacing the wheels, two have not held air but 24 hrs at a time up till yesterday,i checked air preasure, both had correct preasure, they been leaking at the bead,i was told i needed to replace those two rims as they would never hold air,but some how they have going on 48 hrs this time. So im about to get a the quirks ligned out . Almost forgot,it keeps says water is low when its full, never have has to add water, wonder whats up with that?

CAN'T GET ANY OF MY PHOTOS TO LOAD

Hi! Rob, what's the secret to getting my photos to load? Everytime I upload a photo to the post I get the error message saying it "failed."
